If one were to refer to the 'vital statistics' of a top model / supermodel, would the statistics be in inches or centimetres? i.e. the classic 36-24-36, or the European equivalent 90-60-90?. I'm proofreading a pitch for an advertising agency but the copywriter is using the latter measurement but the pitch is for the US market. Notaro" Subject: Re: vital statistics NJC Though the actual physical dimensions may change, the phrase itself has come to represent something more than than the dimensions and has been used for such for many years. I'd stick with it linguistically. Jerry mike pritchard wrote: > Quick question for people in the usa, and forgive the sexism please. (I have a disorganization problem) but something that he wrote left me feeling that he was priveledged, ie. silver spoonish and also, arrogant. . (or maybe that was in his early days, I don't know) (the writing that I am referring to was in the first few pages of the song book). . (I believe Suzanne is in this song book.) Is this true? I don't mean to cast negativity on him. . but I am left with this feeling. . but the song (Suzanne) is amazing. . etched in my being. . . Marianne From: Em But the places that man takes me with his words - whew.. "Suzanne" by HIM is a trip. Nearly literally, as it lifts me up and out of my head and makes me fly around. Its just miracle stuff. _________________________________________________________________ FREE pop-up blocking with the new MSN Toolbar get it now! http://toolbar.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200415ave/direct/01/ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 May 2006 05:47:19 -0700 (PDT) From: Bob Muller Subject: Re: vital statistics NJC Speaking to a US audience, you'd definitely use inches. So Long, Marianne Come over to the window, my little darling, Ibd like to try to read you palm I used to think I was some kind of gypsy boy Before I let you take me home. Chorus: so long marianne, itbs time that we began To laugh and cry and cry and laugh about it all again Well, you know that I love to live with you, But you make me forget so very much I forget to pray for the angel And then the angels forget to pray for us. Chorus We met when we were almost young Deep in the green lilac park You held on to me like I was a crucifix As we went kneeling through the dark. Chorus Your letters say that you are beside me now Then why do I feel alone? Ibm standing on a ledge and your fine spider web Is fastening my ankle to a stone. Chorus For now I need your hidden love Ibm cold as a new razor blade You left when I told you I was curious I never said that I was brave. Chorus O you are really such a pretty one I see youbve gone and changed your name again And just when I climbed this whole mountainside To wash my eyelids in the rain. Mea culpa, and I think we all can relate to that. Then there's the "Mars - Venus" thing where women are always asking a guy "what's wrong" just because we're being quiet. "Nothing's wrong, I just don't have the desire to blab incessantly like you do, sweetheart - OK?" And back to the original topic - just to clarify, I would NEVER approach a total stranger and *order* them to smile. First place, you don't know what's going on with them; relationship problems, physical pain, loss of a loved one, etc. I do however try to make eye contact with people (except for airport security) and smile - but I don't run around singing: "Gray skies are gonna clear up, Put on a happy face..." (Bye Bye Birdie) Likewise, when I go running, I wave to people as I go by, just to get a smile or a wave in return. It helps to "cheer" me on. So, enough about that...let's all go get a smile by watching the Smurfs! http://peekvid.com/c1/s3/ Bob, flashing a passport smile NP: Nellie McKay, "Baby Watch Your Back" Tired of spam? Yahoo!
