Well, everything's okay now! Sure, don't you get it? If a mere mortal leaks sensitive information, it jeopardizes national security. Since the president *defines* national security *for* us, minute by minute, there's nothing to worry about. This is the end of the controversy since there's no review for presidential decisions during times of war. Or times of occupation. Or times of colonization. Whew, what a relief! Jim L'Hommedieu npimh: the end of "Apocalypse Now". We see a Vietnamese forest being napalmed into cinders and Marlon Brando's voice over repeats "The horror!" I don't know how true it is, but the guy I bought it from told me it was found in the garbage in front of the old Filmore East and that it came from Bill Graham's office. Can you imagine?!? Thanks so much for the recommendation. From what you describe I will flip so I will check it out! I recently was intrigued by Cassy's note of the Stevie tribute CD and picked it up and have listened to it incessantly. I am so out of it I didn't know of Morph till I read it here and then heard a song from it on an midwest airplane trip (delayed 10 hours because of tornado cells) last night! Zow and wow! It made the hell go away and got me in de groove ;-) Kakki > > Ready & waiting here in SC, Kakki - as much as > you like Simon & Garfunkel, have you checked out > the Kings Of Convenience? Hi Lim, Perhaps my favorite Joni question ever is: "Do you want to dance" Other favorites: "does the moon play only silver" "dying roses will they will their perfumed rhapsodies to me" "and when (I) we ask you why" "how did you come to trade the fiddle for the drum" "Can I(we) help you find the peace and the star" "Lady, have you no heart" "wondering, where had it to go" I can think more easily of commands than questions in Joni's songs... like "shine your light on me Miss Liberty" or "look at those jokers" or "study war no more" or "send me somebody whose strong and somewhat sincere," etc. Love, Laura ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Apr 2006 00:05:57 -0400 From: "Jim L'Hommedieu, Lama" Subject: Re: "Shadows And Light" on CD I second that. One of the things about the DVD is how much energy is on stage during "Dry Cleaners". Plus, it's pretty cool to see Metheny in the same band as Pastorius. I even like the video which accompanies "Amelia". Jim L. >Looks like the DVD omits "Don's Solo", "Dreamland", "God Must Be A Boogie Man" & "Woodstock" contained on the CD BUT the DVD contains "Jaco's Solo" & "Raised On Robbery" that's not on the CD and wasn't on the vinyl. So my advice - get 'em both!> ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Apr 2006 21:09:30 -0700 From: Subject: Anger and carpal tunnel (njc) Anger - it took me nearly 40 years to finally see the light. Anger is corrosive and debilitating and holding onto it ALWAYS hurts you more than your target. If you wallow in it, your target is winning. It's very, very hard to get there as far as understanding this concept but thank God I finally did. Weirdly perhaps, my breakthrough came while listening to Seal. Not that Seal caused the breakthrough but music in general can help bring you over to the other side. I still have my monents that are hard to overcome but once you get it, it will really help get you through to realize anger does nothing but hurt you. Carpal tunnel and other joint and neurological syndromes - I have suffered through a myriad of them the past few years with varying horrible prognoses. I was immediately offered all kinds of hard narcotics and other mind and body altering drugs to treat my syndromes and hey, while I like my martinis, did not want to go there so I rejected all these drugs. Through trial and error and the benefit of a few really good docs, I have found that you can really alleviate and abate much by vitamins (injected works the best), aerobic exercise (which I am not good at but it works), awareness and management of stress AND number one for me - lots of doses of listening to beautiful music. Oh yeah, and actually denial helps, too. Distract yourself, defy and deny it. Wear good shoes and get a good pillow to lay your head on. Don't laugh - it really works. What do the "only Joni" people think of receiving email that may not be Joni-related but is still music related? If listers were to omit the (N*JC) tag from music-related email, would you welcome that? Or do you already get enough other music-related email from other sources? Personally, although I subscribe to the "everything" mode, if I subcribed to the "only Joni" mode I think that I would like prefer to receive all music-related email. Otherwise I would miss out on a lot of great new music that people hear and pass on via this list. But that's just me. What about YOU? I'm posting this to the entire group because I would like to encourage discussion about it. You can respond privately to me or to the group, with or without the (N*JC) tag.
