I believe you know the artists of February 1 a lot better than me - so your guess for Joanne Shenandoah seems like a good one if she is, as I guess you know she is, a native American. I agree on the excitement around the eels - and my guess is more a guest - than it is real a guess - because it was too difficult to come up with the right song here. He would most defintaley surprise us - and I'm sure do a great cover. I also think Cowboy Junkies would do a very good "Silky Veils" and definately very good, whatever they choose, a great live-band! Tracy Chapman could maybe do "Love or money" - themes that seems to rediscover in her songs. Suzanne Vega would also be a good voice on "Edith and the kingpin" or maybe "Shades of scarlet," Me'shell N'degeocello could do a brilliant "Black Crow." Judy Collins could also perform Joni's newer stuff in a grerat way, for example by doing "Sunny Sunday" or "Night ride home" or if the producer allows it "Harlem in Havana" I believe Amy Grant really would like to do "Both sides now," see if she is allowed to do that. "Let the wind carry me" and "Lesson in survival" is also imortantant Joni songs - but who could to them- Same to most of the "Hejira" album - for example "Refugee of the roads" maybe that will be Me'shells pick? Much of Ladies' could be done very exciting as Joni show's on my next Joni buy: Miles of Ailes (I still haven't bought all albums, but I'm getting closer, each pay-day) Mingus is often passed by, in occasions like this, som maybe it will be again- Someone will probably do "Love," maybe "Dog eat dog" - and "Lakota," and maybe "The tea leaf prophecy," and as you suggested "Cherokee Louise," and i also guess "Borderline" is a proper song on a great night like this - -if anyone has the nerves to sing this strong song on this bright occasion But again I don not know all these artists very well - so my guesses - as I said will be wild, mostly. Laurie Anderson would probably do a great "Paprika Plains" maybe you for once coulde hear all the text here? I know the concert will be great. And I guess you who go there will send us at home one or many exciting reports of it all. Best !
