And I think there is recorded evidence of YOUR brilliance but possibly NOT mine. You are to kind AND forgiving of me. I am still flirting with anudder jonifest in New Orleans. I have got a lot on my plate at the moment including a possible short tout with Arlo Guthrie from Chicago Dec. 5 to New Orleans Dec 17. Keep yo fingas crossed. You've been validated by all of us on JMDL for years but this is nice to hear too. Break a leg. Jim PS, Sherelle, start praying. >Judy and I found out late last night that our CD, "MEDLEYFYIN'--a unique tribute to Richard Rodgers" is one of 36 from which the final Grammy nominees will be chosen in the "traditional pop vocal" category. The second best thing about this, for me, is that we don't know any of the people who made the selection; it seems to have been based entirely on what's on the disc. Very meaningful to me...more so since others listed include Rod Stewart, Keely Smith, Carly Simon, Tony Bennett. Best thing: it's something Judy and I shared then and share now. We're happy! I don't think there's any doubt that "it" is tragic--the mood of the performance, vocal and instrumental, speaks to that. I do feel healing there, albeit at the very beginning of the process. "Amelia" is certainly in my "Joni top 5", maybe even #1 (but too hard to choose). Or the whole Japanese version of the album that includes Black Crow, Free Man In Paris and Don's Solo, zipped. I only have the Australian version and those tracks are missing. I have managed to download a poor copy of Black Crow and Free Man In Paris but, still missing Don's Solo. Please e-mail me off list if you can help. Thanks. Mark in Sydney. Gotta be frustrating. consider this from her very first album: My gentle relations Have names they must call me For loving the freedom Of all flying things Or the song 'Black Crow' also from 'Hejira'. I've always thought that flight was a recurring image with definite meaning for Joni.
