The whole very long (you've been warned) story is at: http://www.jmdl.com/bitb/docs/981107.cfm (scroll about halfway down) I don't think I've ever heard anything by the brothers Finn that I didn't like, including Split Enz stuff, Crowded House stuff, solo stuff. They have a wonderful pop songwriting sense. As a covers junkie I love tribs, and I'm sure that one will be a winner. Bob NP: Moby, "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?" Tired of spam? Yahoo! I enjoyed reading it. "an accomplished sense of rightness" is a terrific phrase that will stick with me. I'll be "humming it in the lobby" as they say. And yes, she has a special gift for expressing duality. All the best, Jim L'Hommedieu Jeff Hankins said >And hearing it again I'm remembering why (and - glory - feeling something of that delight again). Why is it so remarkable? Who else was writing songs about the restlessness of the search vs. the savouring of the moment? The swoop of the melodic line - high to low - in the first words, coupled with such an arrestingly precise little vignette - '3 waitresses all wearing black-diamond earrings'. Everything about it has an accomplished sense of rightness - the balance of guitar and voice.> ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Sep 2005 12:52:11 +0000 From: "Sherelle Smith" Subject: Re: curling, njc Ha! Hello Sherelle, I'm sorry I won't be there to be your "producer", but I'm sure you will do quite well. It will be like an athletic event in preparation. It is normal to have butterflies as you build up to the event. That's you body preparing itself. I would be nervous if I were not nervous. You would not be in that position if you were not ready. You deserve this chance of a lifetime, that many would die for. Go get it. Keep us posted. We "producers" want to know when we are needed. I see it on TV but I just can't believe there is enough energy in the gulf to allow such a big furious storm to develop. It does not look good for Texas and my heart goes out to those people. They were wonderful hosts to us and I have always talked such trash about Texans (except for Donna of course). Spoke to one of the engineers from work who had evacuated to Galveston with his wife in their beautiful sailboat. They just evacuated again north to Dallas and had to leave the boat behind. I hope they fair well and with some luck maybe this storm will hit an more unpopulated area. We have decided to sit tight here and see what it's gonna do before we bail out of town again. I got the office back open today and there is a couple of glimmers of hope for some jobs coming up. It's that amazing spirit of the people of this town that are beginning to sing and dance in the streets again. We heard that the Voodoo Festival will be moving to Memphis for Halloween weekend and the artists have all committed to play for next to nothing so that the promoters can make this a benefit for our people. I think I might get to work this show which would be wonderful. It is sad that we cannot hold the show here in La. where it belongs. The Big Apple concert last night was so beautiful. They showed it on cable access here for free and we caught most of it although I missed Dave Matthews set. Bette Midler was a scream. Elton out did himself playing Funeral for a Friend (Love Lies Bleeding), Someone Saved My Life Tonight, and a New Orleans Pianoy version of Levon. Aaron Neville sitting in with Simon and Garfunkel had me balling. Dave Matthews sat in with Jimmy Buffett which was a hoot. Elvis Costello and Diana Krall with the Dirty Dozen Brass band, Ry Cooder Buckwheat Zydeco and Lenny Kravitz with Irma Thomas on vox phew! I hope somebody taped this thing. I was not set up to do it. My heart is being torn apart with the desire to go party with my bitch in Utah for her wedding or go to D.C. to support my dear friend "the next big superstar". Dennis Quaid was in town to do a walk thru in the city and bring us money to International Hospital for Children. He plans to film his movie here in January next year. He will direct. What a guy!
