It's clearly just fine :) Just one thing though:- On 1 Sep 2005, at 18:12, ReckersL@ebrd.com wrote: > Just a few warnings: > 1) It may take long to get the full picture to come up, when you > click > on the small version. This only happens the first time a gallery is viewed after photos have been uploaded. The gallery software creates thumbnail and 1024x768 versions of all pictures - but only when the album is first viewed. From that point on, they're cached and access should be rapid for all. Well; if you're using dial-up, it'll be as rapid as dial-up can be, anyway. For the others awaiting upload instructions, I'm on it... - --Chris ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Sep 2005 19:33:42 -0700 From: "Kate Bennett" Subject: Joni As A Baby, (and as a lesbian) now njc >All i know is that in my next life i want to be a tree. This thought cheers me more: I think that Bush -- and Dick, Rummy, Wolfie, Condi and the rest -- should pass the rest of Bush's term in the Superbowl. They should be escorted there after it has been evacuated but before anyone even thinks about cleaning it up. They should then be accompanied by the gangs, the looters of unnecessary items, and anyone else who has the audacity to harm or take advantage of others during this terrible time. Everyone except the Administration personnel will be given a revolver with 6 bullets. Two boxes of water and two boxes of food will be provided -- not per person, but total -- and that will be placed in the middle of the field. And then, let the fun begin. Hey, it's better than any other solution I can come up with. The networks will go wild for this reality show. Lori ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Sep 2005 02:28:57 -0400 From: jrmco1@aol.com Subject: Music in the Arena of Suffering njc Just posted to LATimes.com: ...Many of the injured, the elderly and the critically ill, and those suffering from dehydration, have been taken across a walkway to an adjoining sports center, the New Orleans Arena. One man was lying partway on a cot, his legs flopped off the side, a forgotten blood pressure monitor attached to his right arm. Some people had wrapped plastic bags on their feet to escape the urine and wastewater seeping from piles of trash. Others, fearing the onset of disease, had surgical masks over their mouths. An alarm had been going off for more than 24 hours and no one knew how to turn it off. Suddenly, incongruously, the first notes of Bach's Sonata No. 1 in G minor," the Adagio, pierced the desperation. Samuel Thompson, 34, is trying to make it as a professional violinist. He had grabbed his instrument ? made in 1996 by a Boston woman ? as he fled the youth hostel Sunday where he had been staying in New Orleans for the last two months. "It's the most important thing I own," he said. He had guarded it carefully and hadn't taken it out until Wednesday afternoon, when he was able to move from the Superdome into the New Orleans Arena, far safer accommodations. He rested the black case on a table next to a man with no legs in a wheelchair and a pile of trash and boxes, and gingerly popped open the two locks. He lifted the violin out of the red velvet encasement and held it to his neck. Thompson closed his eyes and leaned into each stretch of the bow as he played mournfully. A woman eating crackers and sitting where a vendor typically sold pizza watched him intently. A National Guard soldier applauded quietly when the song ended, and Thompson nodded his head and began another piece, the Andante from Bach's Sonata in A minor. Thompson's family in Charleston, S.C., has no idea where he is and whether he is alive. Thompson figures he is safe for now and will get in touch when he can. In the meantime he will play, and once in a while someone at the sports complex will manage a smile. "These people have nothing," he said. "I have a violin. And I should play for them. They should have something." ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2005 #335 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
