There are a couple other JMDLers in that area so maybe we can have a mini jonifest sometime. It always is a fest when we JMDLers get together. Thanks for your post. Very good post. You sure jumped into Joni's albums quickly. Two of my very favorites are The Hissing of Summer Lawns and Miles of Aisles. Hope to hear more from you! Cool that you are into Joni and so young. We have another young guy on the list who lives in Australia; his name is Dylan. Dylan, oh Dylan... where are you Dylan?! I'm sorry, I sort of left that part out! The song was "Help Me". Oddly enough, I don't even have the album in which that song is on yet. I got so wrapped up in the other Joni albums I bought that I totally forgot about the song that hooked me in the first place. Actually, I haven't even heard "Help Me" since that day in January when I first heard it! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Aug 2005 10:14:45 -0400 From: "Marianne Rizzo" Subject: Newbie Here! Marianne Date: Sat, 13 Aug 2005 14:18:16 EDT From: DontPoll@aol.com Subject: Newbie Here! (How I discovered Joni et al..) Hi all, Glad to be a part of this discussion. Although, I must admit, I'm far from a longtime Joni Mitchell fan. In fact, I just 'discovered' her a few months ago. I'm pretty young (22 years old), so my only knowledge of Joni prior to this year was the song "Big Yellow Taxi". That's *all* I knew by her; Thus, I had always written her off completely. Not that I actively hated the song, but I assumed all Joni Mitchell music was just like that. Y'know, flower power, hippie folky stuff. However, that all changed this year. It was a snowy, bitter cold day, and I was driving home from work listening to the radio (Buffalo's 107.7 The Lake, for those from around there..I live in Rochester, NY btw, but we receive this radio station). I heard this amazing song on the radio, and had to look up the female artist. Who could this be??? I remembered a lyric, and found out it was Joni Mitchell. _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! I think it's a really great 'cover' job, and I highly recommend it. Chinese Cafe is just dreamy. On another front, does anyone have the complete video of the TNT broadcast from NYC back in 2000, The All-Star Tribute to JM? I just LOVE my copy, and I watch it often, but it starts late, in the middle of Wynonna and Bryan Addams' show opener, Raised on Robbery. I'd love to get a clean copy of the whole show. If you haven't seen it, or don't have it, you definitely NEED it! Shaun Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter's rendition of Amelia is worth the price of admission alone. Any chance anyone here on this list was at the taping? Anderson, aka Pastor Bob: http://www.kennewickfirstlutheran.org/PastorBob.html Or maybe she'd be Dr Robert J. Anderson of the "Vein Centers for Excellence of Des Moines" at: http://desmoinesveincenter.com/ Or, of course, John Kelly.
