I'm hoping to properly chill out on the non-fest days. I could certainly use the down time. Wow! Thank you so much for sharing this article! Now maybe we can put our "crazy" pills away! We've had a lot of discussion on the state of the record industry today and it has all been very eye-opening. I think this is another step in the evolution of the industry conglomerates. I have my own ideas of what will happen next but I am curious to know what everyone else is thinking about how this will affect the music industry immediately and down the road. I'm also curious about the public's reaction to this news. Does anyone remember how Allan Freed (sp?) got nailed for payola back in the 50's? That was a drop in the bucket compared to what I just read!!! My goodness!!! We just got the call from the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center. They have a donor match for the kidney/pancreas transplant surgery she needs. They'll operate tomorrow morning, most likely Thank you all for your boundless support and caring leading up to today. Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts for the challenges that lie ahead for Gail and me. And our prayers and thanksgiving have begun for the family of our donor. God's blessings on them. All the best for Gail (and you), and I hope everything goes smoothly, with a minimum of discomfort and zero complications. Good vibes being sent in the millions. And a reminder to everyone - sign up as an organ donor. The life you save may be someone you love.... I want us all to hold hands. There is strength in numbers. The phone rang at approximately 9 p.m., and I saw "Julius Mills" on my caller ID (always a thrill!), so I picked up. I said: "Hello?" He said: "Hi Patti." (I immediately could hear something "different" in his voice.) I said (already "knowing"): Julius! What's up?" He said: " I'm in the hospital." OH MY GOD! Alleluia! This is the day we have been waiting for! The donor is an 18 year-old from Modesta. They got the call at 10 a.m., and went to the hospital at 3 p.m. He broke down. I broke down. And then I could "see" him wiping away the tears, gathering up strength to go back to be with Gail. I salute their solid love. He is going to stay in the hospital all night (except for going home to feed the cats). They expect the surgery to begin at 6 a.m. PST. It may last 6 hours. So, I just had to write in, wanting to hold hands with you all, in a collective prayer/thoughts/vibes circle, for Julius and Gail -- and also for the beautiful soul, and his/her grieving family, who is giving the gift of life. Lots of love, Patti P. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Jul 2005 21:24:01 -0700 From: "Allison Crowe Music Mgmt" Subject: Payola+ Eliot Spitzer's investigation http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2005/jul/payola.pdf Joni is one of the few major recording artists to be honest and candid about how the music industry really operates. Perhaps the ongoing investigation by NY's Attorney General Eliot Spitzer will shed some public light on a few of those practices that poison the well. Here's hoping, at least! cheers, Ad ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2005 #292 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
