I am trying to gather any remixes of Joni's music. Such as the extended version of Shiny Toys, etc. If anyone has any mp3s of remixes or other versions apart from album tracks, please e-mail me. I'd be happy to do any swaps. I have the Big Yellow Taxi EP if anyone would like the tracks sent to them. I only recently realised that the last track on it is not the original album version as I had thought. It states, "Big Yellow Taxi (Acapella with Guitar" and that's exactly what it is, without the percussion from the album. The "Friends" R&B version is excellent. Thanks. I hope that We have had years and years and years London being attacked. 30 years of IRA attacks which claimed, both here and in Belfast, over 5,000 lives. Madness, utter madness... Now we have something else to put up with. I hope that the British spirit will prevail in that it will be business as usual once the dust has settled. It could be the G8 conference causing hackles to rise, it could be the IRA it could be Al Quieda it could be a nutter with a grudge, a disgruntled London Transport worker (its all buses and trains) and it could be any number of other groups who have something to moan about. I refuse to feel anger or any hatred. It is dreadful that people have died and for their relatives I have deepest sympathy for their pain. The only people I will blame, if it is a terrorist attack by one group or another, is the government and their continued involvement in a war that is (still in my eyes) unjust. I dont know if any one saw DUBBYA at the G8 summit trying to wriggle on a pin about emmissions...... it was embarrassing. I did not feel sorry for him, only more horrified that he is the head of one of the most powerful countries in the world. My 14 year old daughter could have been more convincing. Tony B just simpers and smiles and says nothing of any weight, or substance. I am horrified that he is the head of one of the most powerful countries too. No wonder the US and UK have so much in common..... we choose to elect prats into power........... Please let something awful be found out about both of them so they get asked to stand down. I am going to get on with work. The Good news in our household is that Franks brother became a dad yesterday so that is something to be joyful about. I hope the London JMDLers are OK. Unfortunately, Lucy, it goes the other way. It only drives the pro war forces to press on. Funny how we supposedly have so much support for the war in Iraq here in the States, and they managed to reelect the man who brought us there. I think the whole thing is dreadful... I wonder about black ops, I wonder about people hiding behind other groups to achieve their aim in secret.......... I have such a wierd gut feeling about this one and I hope we just get on with life and not step up attacks in any foreign country as a result... It would just be awful... I must go and save my daughter from the TV reports. She is hooked in to the BBC coverage and is horrified about the blood spattered over the walls of the British Medical Association building...... I hate that my kids, any kids, are being brought up around these unexpected attacks. Somehow the IRA were almost a foreign "enemy" because in those days we did not have video phones, and instant reporting all day long. you had to wait for the very biased reporting and nod, (in black and white) as the "recieved pronunciation" declared all that was proper for you to hear. 3 TV CHannels (until channel 4 came, and then Satellite and cable) made for a distant acquaintance with the horror of what went on for so long.. I can remember so many bombings in London and always being aware of bags on trains, or buses. Nowadays though, the explosives do not have the cartoon quality of sticks of dynamite tied together with an alarm clock and the word BOMB on the package. Semtex and C4 are so powerful and small and easilty concealed. A cigarette packet can be small enough to do huge damage. Who is going to see anyone drop a ciggy pack on the floor , or put it in to the rubbish bin in an underground carriage... With earlier this year having seen John Mellencamp and the ever always perpetually cool Donovan who I raved about last April, and with the Stones on my calendar in Chicago later this summer, there is one band I must share with you: Michael Tolcher http://www.michaeltolcher.com. I have never been wowed like I have by this guy, not ever in a live concert. In one of his songs he says, "You said, life is for learning, so teach me to live" and by reading his website he has the background that that may have been a Joni referance. (It is the second song on the website) Damn, this guy just blew me away, with his amazing band. Check the website and see who all has played with him, and the good words he gets from Tupac Shukar's father Dr Motulo Skukar. (Leave it to me to find a white guy loved by Tupac's father...) There are not enough words to say how stunned I was by Michael Tocher, who I and never heard of... the head of security came over to me and this guy has seen a lot of concerts in his years and says to me, who is that singing, he's amazing. The guy standing next to me who had flown in from Boston to see Howie Day was equally enthralled by Michael Tolcher; afer his set, the guy looks at me and says, where did this guy come from? Then he bought the cd and we passed the liner notes back and forth like it was the 60s and we had a new Beatles album. The music you hear on his site does not witness to the extraordinary stage show - no gimmicks, just talent. Just amazing. beyond words to convey. Check him out, and see him if you possibly can. Thanks for letting us know, Julius. It's been a sad day all over the world. My thoughts are with you Mikey. My thoughts and prayers also go out to all the UK jmdlers. I've been thinking about you guys all day. Jimmy If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call to make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting? - ----Stephen Levine ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Jul 2005 18:03:47 -0700 From: "Kakki" Subject: Re: London I am so sad and sorry to hear this horrible news. Just last night I was so happy to hear London was getting the Olympics - joy turned to tears very quickly. I hear they have gathered some good evidence so far and hopefully they will find some of the perpetrators soon. It sounds like most of the JMDL'ers are safe but I hope Lieve and more will let us know they are O.K. Even if one is not directly harmed, this is still traumatic to many. My thoughts are with you. I can't say it any better than this. My thoughts are with you, and our UK friends.... Jerry - there are a lot of people who voted for Bush who do not have family members or do not have family members young enough to qualify for service in Iraq. There are some people who try to "serve" in other ways. I have been thinking about this for awhile and have been looking into others ways in which I can contribute. It will involve a lifestyle change and pay cut, but if I can swing it, I hope to do so. Strings is out in Turkey until Saturday. Anita's similarly "out in the sticks" so I think she'll be fine, but I'll get a message out if I can find her address. Still, a building out in Canary Wharf was evacuated this evening because someone left a bus outside. Twitchy times... As Lucy said, though, our spirit will prevail. NJC tag on this now?
