So does that mean that that tune can only be burned 4 times as a part of that SAME playlist? Or 4 times "total"...so if a certain song appears in a different playlist, it might not be "burnable" because at some point in the past it was burned as part of DIFFERENT playlists? I.e. can it be burned again and again if it is a part of *different* playlists? Thought maybe someone could tell me - I just don't want to use up 4 CD's testing - or the "shelf life" of some of my .m4s'. Man its just too EASY to pig out at the iTunes store. I love it! Hi Ron, I agree! It does everyone a disservice. Back in '62 or '63 or so, Bob was not the only "ramblin' boy" with a peaked cap and a harmonica rack. And what Bob did later on is not comparable to anyone, so I wish people would stop using him as a reference standard for "something"... whatever that something is. There may have been a scruffy similarity between them in say 63 or so...but I would say after 64 or 65 they were totally different. What I see coming out of Donovan's gentle legacy is stuff like the more acoustic T-Rex stuff, which I find delicious, as well as Cat Stevens' first 3 or 4 albums. I just don't see any point in comparing Donovan to Dylan. Their paths, *if* they were ever similar, certainly diverged style-wise once things got psychedelic. :) Em ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 04 Jul 2005 16:11:27 -0400 From: BWORKMAN@woh.rr.com Subject: Re: Donovan - - and other summer shows, njc No, it's not Sutras, it's Beat Cafe. I hadn't seen that at all, Jamie. Thanks a lot! See that "Concord Pavilion Amphitheater" pictured at the bottom of the page? (It's called "Chronicle Pavilion, now.) That place is the Northern California venue where I saw Joni Mitchell, LIVE, in concert for the very first time, on June 12, 1983. And the recurring significance of that date has continued to reassert itself throughout my life: * June 12, 1983 - the scheduled date of my graduation from Stanford University. I skipped the main graduation ceremony and walked through the pomp and circumstance the *following* year, so I could go see my heroine perform that day. * June 12, 2004 - the date, just last year, that I lost my dear, precious friend MG to cancer. * June 12, 1957 - the date my beloved soul-mate, Gail, was born. They ask for her "DOB" every single time I have to call hospitals, pharmacies and health-providers, so they can confirm that I'm really her true Caregiver, and not some impostor. And every single time, I'm compelled to think about how much I dearly miss our Mary Grace and how crucial it is that I not fail in my mission to help get my Gail well, by whatever means necessary, and by God. And whenever I think of that date, more often than not, I recall fondly how Joni Mitchell thrilled me, surprised me, and made me cry on that balmy afternoon back in the Summer of '83. She altered the lyrics to "Real Good, For Free," in the most peculiar way! That's when the Sun caught me crying, I'm afraid. Couldn't quite figure out why I cried at that juncture (the 'shrooms, maybe, I thought?) That day, after singing "...but the one man band / by the quick-lunch stand / He was playing real good for free..." Joni added this haunting refrain: "Like a fallen angel / Like a rising star / Playing for a hat full of nothing..." and that's about all I remember of the *new* lyrics she wrote for that song. Anyone know the rest of the new lines? They've escaped me over the years. I sure hope hope Sheryl Crowe doesn't cover them before I'm able to refresh my memory on my own. - -Julius - -----Original Message----- From: Jamie Zubairi To: Joni JMDL Sent: Mon, 4 Jul 2005 16:56:52 +0100 (BST) Subject: Anyone see this? http://www.meyersound.com/news/2000/jonimitchell500.htm It's a website from the guy who designed the sound of her 2000 BSN tour Much Joni Jamie Zoob ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Jul 2005 17:55:05 -0400 (EDT) From: Catherine McKay Subject: Re: Anyone see this? - --- jrmco1@aol.com wrote: > That day, after singing "...but the one man band / > by the quick-lunch > stand / He was playing real good for free..." I got 15 items. The first one starts off: '"I am a painter first," Joni Mitchell has emphasized to me at the very beginning of our talks ...' (Hmm, we've heard that a few times!) This is from 1978. (A Search For Clarity by Anthony Fawcett, ) "California Rock, California Sound") She talks about having gone out with the intention of meeting Georgia O'Keefe, and then turning back without meeting her, wanting to respect her privacy. Almost 20 years later, in an interview with Liane Hansen, she now talks about having met O'Keefe, when the painter was in her 90s: "When I met Georgia O'keefe she was in her 90s and she said to me, `Well, I would have liked to have been a musician too, but you can't do both.' And I said, `Oh yes you can.' And she leaned in on her elbows and said, `Really? You know, I would have liked to have played the violin.' I said, you know, `Well, take it up, Georgia,' you know? I mean, you know, start today, you know." (Music Icon Joni Mitchell Discusses Her Music, by Liane Hansen ) NPR Weekend Edition, May 28, 1995). And you know, there definitely may be more.
