She's got a new album out called "Fisherman's Woman" that I find quite unique and mesmerizing. Very sparse and moody. I'd be interested in the thoughts of others who've heard her. This was music my mother played when I was a pre-schooler in the early 60's. You can see why I love Joni's music - she is a fan of Stravinsky, says her music is "black", and started in the folk music genre. Her sardonic wit would cut right to the quick. Her succinct posts made me laugh out loud. There was always a 'no coffee drinking zone' when opening her e-mail in the morning. Once, when I was running a computer lab after school, I read something she had written to me and almost hyperventilated I laughed so hard. My students were seriously considering calling 911. She was that damn funny. For those of you who never met MG, I hope you at least got to read her posts. For those new to the list, check the archives, or on the website for her tribute. She certainly was one-of-a-kind and a kindred Joni spirit. I am tipping a diet coke to your memory MG. I love you! Suze n.p. By sheer coincidence, I was perusing a book of Georgia O'Keeffe paintings in a beautiful coffee table book when I ran across O'Keeffe's "Lawrence Tree" painting. I suddenly realized that it was MG's daughter's reproduction of that very painting that adorned the front cover of MG's Memorial program a year ago now. I'm taking it as a sure signal from MG that's all is well with her UP There.
