(NJC) It was Queen Elizabeth I who said "God did not give me windows to see into men's souls." Sexist language aside... What Stephen Stills did or did not do is between himself, his significant other, and his God (if he has one or whatever it is that he calls that which is beyond ourselves) Sincw when did the JMDL become so fucking judgmental of what others do in the privacy of their lives? Have we become the National Enquirer? Do we know all the circumstances of the private lives of the Stills family that we can presume to judge things that happen in the privacy of their family? Let alone make grandiose sweeping indictments of him and of all heterosexual men of a certain age who become biological fathers, indict him as being indictative of a societal illness, and sit in the place of judgment as if we have all knowledge and all authority, god-like? Have we become Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson that we can take private incidents in a person's private life and making sweeping societal denunciations? None of us, I dare so, are privy to the Stills family private life and what factors went into whatever has happened in their lives. I don't follow society gossip, so I infer from posts in here that he has become a father to a child borne by his wife. Oh, the horror and the evilness... oh, that this is for us to comment on... oh, that this is any of our business to sit and pass judgment... oh, that we have all knowledge to their private lives and thoughts and understand what lay behind their decision making process, if any... or not or not or not or not. If indeed the Stills family is celebrating a new child, God's blessing to be to all. The rest of the discussion -- from some people who would most object to anyone making value judgments and societal assumptions or judgments of worth on how they themselves live their own private lives -- I find baffling and worthy of delete, delete, delete, delete. For all we know, their contraception failed and they found no reason to abort a healthy fetus. For all we know, Stephen Stills and his wife are able to live their lives without our moral judgments on things we know nothing about. Next week in the National JMDL Enquirer: should gay men be allowed to have sex? should women have the right to decide in the privacy of their lives reproductive issues? should Paul have been allowed to marry Linda Eastman and John marry Yoko? can we find more ways to imitate the National Enquirer and the Christian Right Wing? It sounds to me like the printer mixed the wrong page in. Does the previous page have Joni's comments on Billie Holiday or is it wrong too?
