Hi Laurent! Because brain cells aren't the only cells that might be affected. I really meant away from any internal organs. It isn't that hard to do so, I go the extra mile so to speak. For your info they recommend aluminium for "infantile mental retardation and sleeping problems". Aluminum-lithium alloys perhaps? Now, do you think that driking from aluminium cans in itself is dangerous if they haven't been in the heat? Probably not much of a risk, but I choose to avoid drinking from aluminum cans on a regular basis. Is there any other food which is in contact with aluminium and which we don't think is dangerous but really is? You might find this interesting along these lines: "Although aluminum is not a heavy metal, environmental exposure is frequent, leading to concerns about accumulative effects and a possible connection with Alzheimer's disease (Anon. 1993). Acute exposure is more likely in the workplace (e.g., unintentional breathing of aluminum-laden dust from manufacturing or metal finishing processes). Chronic exposure may occur in the workplace from accumulated exposures to low levels of airborne aluminum dust and handling aluminum parts during assembly processes over many years. In the home, we are in constant contact with aluminum in foods and in water; from cookware and soft drink cans; from consuming items with high levels of aluminum (e.g., antacids, buffered aspirin, or treated drinking water; or even by using nasal sprays, toothpaste, and antiperspirants) (Anon. 1993; ASTDR ToxFAQs? for Aluminum). Citric acid (e.g., in orange juice) may increase aluminum levels by its leaching activity. Interestingly, aluminum-based coagulants are used in the purification of water. However, the beneficial effects of using aluminum in water treatment have been balanced against the potential health concerns. Water purification facilities follow a number of approaches to minimize the level in "finished" water (WHO 1998)." I would *definitely avoid aliminum when associated with eating and drinking. . I mean aluminum pans - no good aluminum cans - no good what else? Use glass whenever possible. . aluminum in deordorant - probably not good either but hard to find deoderant that works without it (maybe someone can suggest some) What else aluminum that should avoid? I cannot recall right now. . if half of the research suggests that aluminum could be harmful and linked to alzheimers, why use it? now, there is a time and a place perhaps for alumimum. . hmm let me think? Building supplies. . I don't know. you can't keep doing all those drugs AND keep using the aluminum products. . you've got to choose one or the other. and while I am on it. . Omega 3 oils and St. John's Wort do provide some relief for mental illness without the risk factors of aluminium. Also, as far as good brain health goes, I also avoid talking on cell phones held next to my hear. I use an ear piece instead and keep the phone away from my body when it is turned on. His doctor has told us that it has a lot to do with heavy drinking. She did not mention anything about the cans. It seems like the humans have painted themselves into a corner with all crap that we consume and can't seem to live without. They gave him a medication that slowed his memory loss down quite a bit and it works better if you catch it earlier. Once it really gets going though it is really a scary thing. Thanks for sharing this...makes me sad, too. LOVED the Airplane when they first came out with Surrealistic Pillow. That, and The Doors were the two albums that lifted me off in my high school years. I don't mean with drugs - that came later, as I didn't have access in little, isolated, Dexter, Maine [just as well, I'm sure of that] - but with opening my mind and body to what music could be...oh yeah. For anyone does or does not know me, I need you to understand that what I am about to say is very difficult. It is of utmost importance to me that this does NOT become list fodder. It's more a statement, a clarification, for my own good really. If there is to be discussion of the following, I'd prefer it come into my private inbox, off list. The only reason I'm doing this is because it's time for me to come clean as it were and set that record straight, for myself as well as those who have been asking "what the heck happened???". > > The marriage that took place as a result of meeting on the JMDL was mine. No worries, I've not gone loopy or stepped across that line I drew in the sand over seven months ago, but sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. I havent taken leave of my senses, Ive come to them.
