It's a DIVx video formatted file, will play full screen (640 x480) with stereo sound. The original was analog, so the quality is not theatre quality, but it's fine for just watching. You can download the file here: http://www.pinataperspective.com/Joni-CBC.mov.ff.avi Depending on your setup, the file may stream instead of downloading. If you have trouble and want to download the file instead of streaming it, try this link: ftp://www.pinataperspective.com/Joni-CBC.mov.ff.avi To play it, you need the DIVx codec, which you can download from www.divx.com. The freeware VLC media player (www.videolan.org) also will play this with no additional anything needed besides their player. Both of these options are available for Windows and Macintosh computers. (VLC doesn't run on Mac OS9 though, I think). The file is 278 MB. Enjoy, and let me know if anyone has any trouble downloading. I've limited the number of concurrent downloaders to 5 so my bandwidth isn't all consumed by this. ========================== This is not the best of all possible worlds, in case you missed the irony in Voltaire. Same stuff as driveway rust remover, except in much lower concentration. But really, I've heard that the acid that a human's stomach produces is pretty strong stuff too, in and of itself. Not saying that large amounts of cola are good for you, but its not like a stomach is a pristine place anyway..lots of acid happening no matter what. People with rusty old motorcycles sometimes use Coke or Pepsi to de-rust gas tanks. You fill the rusty tank with cola, leave it sit for like a week and then when you go look at it - its so pretty! Personally I'd rather use Behr driveway rust remover and monitor it closely and be done with it in a couple hours. But the cola way is much safer. You can also use a molasses and water mixture. Molasses also is very acid that way. The neat thing about removing rust with a phosphoric acid substance (as opposed to muriatic/hydrochloric one) is that it doesn't "flash" rust. Leaves a nice blackish finish. Another cool thing is aluminum foil dipped in cola to spruce up old chrome. :) Em - --- Kate Bennett wrote: > About 30 years ago a friend put some cokacola in a frying pan & > cooked it > til the liquid was gone... what was left made a lifetime impression & > I > haven't had any of that stuff since except for maybe a sip or two > every few > years... it does taste good I admit but its deadly stuff ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 09 Jan 2005 12:05:26 -0800 From: Randy Remote Subject: Re: Dog Eat Dog, GEFFEN RECORDINGS, was Fanta/Coke Thanks for trying, Jim, but my problems with DED have nothing to do with the sonics. I do like Good Friends and Shiny Toys. The rest get points for good intentions, but tend to be wordy and tuneless, the start of a trend that plagued her later work. 3 Great Stimulants (DED) and Number One (from CMIARS) were infinitely more effective at the Amnesty Int'l show as basic, unproduced songs. I have been a fan of Joni's since I was 16 (I am now 40). I have mostly gotten rid of all my vinyl since the advent of CD and mp3. The first Joni album I ever heard and owned was the Australia only release - The World of Joni Mitchell. Since then, I have strived to get my hands on every Joni recording ever made. To say that Joni has shaped my life seems a little obsessive but, her words have made me think about my life many times over which consequently, lead me to continue thinking in those directions so, in a way, it's true. Maybe it's more accurate to say that Joni taught me to think more deeply, to see a beauty in life and to appreciate language as a method of communication. Since I'm not familiar with this discussion list yet, I won't ramble on here. I have a request; Americans were lucky enough to see a TV special called, "An All-Star Tribute To Joni Mitchell" on the TNT network. It has (to my knowledge) not made it to Australian screens. I am desperate to get my hands on a copy of that show. I have managed to download all the songs in mp3 format if anyone would like a copy of the subsequent CD that I have made but, I really want to see it. Can anyone help me out? I don't care what format. I can convert anything - videotape, mpg, avi, etc. Thank for your time. "Lucky Girl" is one of my favorites from any album...the sax (live or synth?) on "Shiny Toys" is wonderful, and "TTGStimulants" is fantastic. Perhaps not as important as other albums in her catalogue, but I like this one. I feel that same way about CMIARS. I was dumfounded when I heard that she was re-issuing the Geffen series in a box set. Not surprised, though. I do hope that she wasn't too disappointed when the same people that ignored the records in the 80's did the same thing in 2004. The demo of "Two Grey Rooms" was worth the purchase price alone, for me. Oh - and as far as DED goes, its my all-time favorite Joni album cover, hands down. Good to have you aboard, and good on you for finding this merry band of Joni devotees. I've been having a ball here on this list for about, um, what, 6-7 years? It's a nice cyber place, more often than not. :-) You write: Since then, I have strived to get my hands on every Joni recording ever made. Funny you should say that... I got one of those Apple iPods for Christmas. It's a technological marvel, really. It's 40 giggabytes and will hold 10,000 songs. That's right 10K, songs within 6 ounces of machine. Anyways, I've been thinking I want every single song Joni ever recorded, live or in-studio, on my "JoniPod." Can it be done? Has anyone done it? I'm going to give it the old college try. How sweet would that be? I could take Joni with me everywhere! All Joni, all the time! WooHoo!!! Ahem. I guess I'd put a few more artists on there too, as I'm all about diversity. I'll talk at you all later...I've got Joni-tunes a-plenty to download. - -Julius ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2005 02:23:02 EST From: JRMCo1@aol.com Subject: Re: Little Green-Without A Trace and now MG Ah! Thanks, bri...that totally 'splains it. How you doing, anyway, boi? Re: MG, I don't where she's interred, brian. She may have wanted to be cremated. I'm just not sure. Now you got me curious though...I'll ask her sister Pat. And by the by it looks as if I'll be able to complete my "Mary Grace: A Musical Tribute" project in the near future. Talk about getting side-tracked...don't get me started. I'm going to have to re-request mailing addresses for those of you I owe a copy to. Because before the girl got pregnant on her first time having sex (at 15), like our Joan, she had been a top level varsity swimmer and the pool was her place to find peace, as she said earlier in the episode. btw Julius, do you know where Mary Grace is buried?
