I should probably give 'Tunnel of Love' another listen. Yeah, 'The Rising' is a good, but not great album. I like it well enough but it got a lot of hype because of the timing of its release and the subject matter. But I have to say, I LOVE "Hungry Heart". That's a driving with the windows open and the radio playing full blast kind of song. ===== Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Dec 2004 08:22:28 -0500 (EST) From: Catherine McKay Subject: RE: tuning question NJC --- Les Irvin wrote: > > I need advice on what to look for in a tuner for > an acoustic guitar. > > The ONLY tuner to get is the Intellitouch Tuner... > in my humble opinion, > that is... > > http://www.homespuntapes.com/prodpg/supprodpg.asp?prodID=678 > I guess I should invest in something high tech like that. I've just been using the A on my electronic metronome and then tuning the rest of the strings from there. It works well enough but not necessarily when you go to alternate tunings and if you're in a noisy room and your ears get confused. Matthew's been bugging me for one, plus a 25-ft cable, a tremolo pedal, a new guitar, which I have bought him for Christmas unbeknownst to him. The store where I bought it is the one where Matt takes his lessons and, when I went into the store to buy it, the guy that sold it to me said, "It's really not for him, is it?" and I just said, "I'll put it to you this way. Even if he loses interest, which I don't think he will, it will certainly NOT go to waste in my house." I can't wait until Christmas. ===== Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Dec 2004 08:53:21 -0500 (EST) From: Catherine McKay Subject: Any Jimmy Webb fans? njc Rhino has put out a 5 CD set of Jimmy Webb's music. I'm not too keen on You Can Look (But you better not touch) or Out In The Street either. Jackson Cage isn't exactly a masterpiece, non plus. There is more filler on this double album than on most. I'd most heartily add "Drive All Night" to the indispensable list. Wonderful song, beautifully arranged, with one of Clarence's best solos. I also think Tunnel Of Love is a terrific album, with some outstanding songs: I think Brilliant Disguise is one of his best singles, while Valentine's Day and One Step Up are superb. Everything else pales in comparison, of his efforts. He is one of those entertainers that will forever be judged on the perfection of that one effort. His commercial forays later brought attention, teenage girls, and money. They were garbage only to be listened to once, hoping for return to perfection, and then placed with the rest of the refuse. Angered much by his actions that I considered a sell out. Then again, everyone must do what they will and my anger was misguided. Ultimately must thank him for the joy, pain, introspection, and sweetness he gave me. mack np: joni - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Azeem" To: "'Richard Flynn'" ; "'Joni@Smoe.
