The track is also available through Apple iTunes US. Bob - I asked a friend who's visiting Japan to get the CD for me, so I'll be happy to send you the track once I get it. I went to Brad's solo recital in London last month and the guy just blew me off! I can't wait to listen to his take on early Joni. NJC **Two of Us and I've Got A Feeling, secondary tracks?? Are you hitting the Colt 45 OR Schlitz Malt Liquor Bob?? ** You are wise beyond your years, Michael - I was enjoying a nice cool Cobra last night, first one in a long time. It's great to go through the automatic checkout and buy them so you don't have to look the cashier in the eye. Anyway, I suppose that "secondary" was not a good choice of words - what I was intending to imply was that they were tunes that the average man on the street might have heard of but not with the frequency or the familiarity of the "hits". But they are just as excellent as is everything on the LP (which I used to have, now I just have the "Naked" cd). Good point, Mike...at the time it was important to me because I was about 13 and really liked Dustin Hoffman's stuff. It certainly wasn't a big deal for Hoffman - he did go on and win (either for Tootsie or Kramer vs. Kramer) and in his speech (which was brilliant) he commented that it was silly to compare different actors in different roles anyway. Then you have Marlon Brando who sent Princess Littlefeather up to deliver a speech, or was it George C. Scott. Maybe if I hadn't had that King Cobra I could recall the details better. Dustin Hoffman did the movie voice-over, but there was a record of it and it was a different voice. Could've been Ringo, but I don't remember. Why would they use a different voice from the movie to the record? Nilsson narrated the record. I love that version the best, but I grew up with it. I watched my new DVD of The Point last night - narrated by Ringo Starr and it just didn't sound right to me. So I looked into it more. Ringo narrated the home video release. Dustin narrated the ABC movie of the week. Due to a 'contractual dispute', a later version was narrated by Alan Barzman (who?) and apparently Disney Channel showed a version narrated by Alan Thicke. and there ya have it. And EXCELLENT research on the Point narration thing...I remember Harry's narration on the record better than I remember Hoffman's narration on the TV movie. I'm all for taking the criminal element out of pot & especially for making it available to those who need it medically... I'm a child of the sixties & once upon a time pot was as central to social life as having a cocktail at a party even more so... But now, I enjoy playing music more without it & without people who get hight because I find it impairs the memory too much- a friend who I use to gig with just forgot too many parts too many times due to his using & since its pretty bad for the lungs just like cigarettes I don't know that you can rule out long term illness & even death if someone smokes it for years... I hadn't heard that it helped depression, I have spoken with folks who said it made their depression much worse so I suppose it depends on one's body chemistry... I have seen up close & personal the great emotional damage that pot addiction can do- it steals people's hearts away & makes them unavailable to their loved ones emotionally, physically & financially just like any addiction can do... I have also witnessed how it has led to harder drugs (stimulants) as a counter balance to being so stoned... a friend of mine who is a drug & alcohol counselor says pot addicts are some of the most difficult people to work with in terms of admitting they have a problem... this isn't to judge anyone on their use- just passing on some information that I have experienced... some people can use substances that others cannot because some people just don't have the addiction gene in them & some just do... finally there are a gazillion legal drugs out there which are as addicting & damaging as anything that is illegal- I don't know if you can get pot in a pill yet but you can get heroin, amphetamines, etc in legal pill form... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Dec 2004 10:37:16 -0800 From: "Kate Bennett" Subject: Re: I am scared....Sadness.... NJC I added NJC - lance I hope that you are on the njc list... Lance I am sorry this happened to you but glad you felt comfortable & courageous enough to reach out here... I don't think that your depression makes you weak at all... I think our emotions are our greatest strength... I don't know if your depression is more clinical than situational but certainly being left by someone during the holiday season is something that is very very traumatic... anyone who would leave someone on Thanksgiving Day to me sounds like someone who is not all that nice of a person... forgive me for making this judgement about someone who I don't even know but you said you were a nice guy & sometimes selfish people take advantage of nice people... I can imagine several much more humane ways to break up with someone that to just leave them on such a day- I had a friend whose husband walked out on Christmas day... I never thought much of him as a person for doing such a thing... hang in there, you will find the right person for you but sometimes it just takes time... I have been through more heartbreaking relationships than I care to recall but can say that when I finally matured emotionally enough & became comfortable enough inside my own skin & life that lo & behold I found (I was not looking) someone who suited me so well & for the first time in my life realized that I had finally found real down to earth everyday solid love... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 05 Dec 2004 01:12:13 +0000 From: tantra_apso Subject: crafts? njc I was wondering how many jmdlers do some form of craft like knitting, crochet, woodturning, sewing, metalwork-whatever, as a hobby or a business? - -- bw colin http://www.btinternet.com/~tantraapso/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Dec 2004 20:21:11 -0500 From: Subject: Bob Dylan: on 60 Minutes tomorrow, njc really It's tomorrow, folks.
