It is good to see that friction happens even without me, which one or two witches may have noticed! I find it amusing that some, no names, who are very good at the put downs and sometimes downright nasty posts, can write about someone elses' writing style! Now to mention a name, Smurhpy, whose posts I have always found mirthful and kind and who rarely responds in kind to mean posts. I have noticed a difference since you have stopped smoking!(not a bad difference) The put down of Kate I clocked and said nothing. It becomes easier and easier to say nothing and leave it to others. I used to think if I didn't stand up no one else would. Now that I have got a better perspective of my world saving self, I rather like just sitting most of the time. On another list, doggy, there was a doo da when some Born Again Pratts started their nonsense(yes even dogs need to know Jesus) and I did not reply and just read with amusement while everyone else did. It was fun and so much safer than being in the firing line. Either I am growing or regressing. Still, I enjoyed all the posts this morning. ps last night at a meeting a woman came up to me(don't know her) and said: 'a woman by the name of Mary who recently died from cancer, wants to give her love to you and let you know she is fine'. - -- bw colin http://www.btinternet.com/~tantraapso/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Aug 2004 07:37:54 EDT From: Dflahm@aol.com Subject: Re: JMDL,the past two weeks: A response. Phillip Keveren - Both Sides Now: This one is also an instrumental, BUT it's not bland by a long shot; a beautiful arrangement for solo piano and executed just as beautifully. A real pleasure! << It's so nice when a REALLY nice version of BSN is covered. I thought of Fred Simon's "Songs of my Youth" when listening to this. >>9. I'm ready to fly to Belgium to see these guys, AND to get out of this fricken heat! >>12. Jim Harmon - The Circle Game: This recent and very tender version is from Jim's lullaby CD. Hear a clip at: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/jimharmon<< What a sweet voice. This is the kind of voice you want to lull you to sleep. If you don't get the covers CD, at least hear the clip. >>15. Thanks for the correction, David. I did a search before I posted, and the "like it" quote was the only one I found. It was also attributed to Louis Armstrong by some. I agree they are not identical statements. So can I make claim to the first one? It was so wonderful to *hear* her speaking her mind, mostly, considering she was live on the radio. And she even let an "eat, f&ck" slip out in her list of animal urges. lol Brian ===== After twenty-three years you'd think I could find A way to let you know somehow That I want to see your smiling face Forty-five years from now. --Stan Rogers Tired of spam? Victor Johnson - Parsonage Lane Produced by Chris Rosser Mastered by Dave Glasser Reviewer -Shawn M. Haney With the warm endearing feel of Latin jazz, and enlightening folk-pop, Victor Johnson spins out melodies and poetic messages with genuine heart and wit on the breathtaking Parsonage Lane. The opening track, "Heavenly Eyes" is somber and romantic, a perfect love ballad to help the record begin to flow. The listener can be engaged in awe of Johnson's daring group of backup musicians. You'll hear the soprano sax of Stuart Reinhardt, the dynamic percussive rhythms of River Guerguerian, and Chris Rossser playing a riveting bass. In "Real World", Reinhardt brings charm and energy to Johnson's dazzling poeticisms with bright flute passages, delivering the following message: "Life is for Living." Johnson's songs are versatile, with melodies reaching a colorful palette of feelings, striking a variety of emotions, from the somber, the sad, to the uplifting and spiritual. Be sure to catch the haunting emotional lift of Parsonage Lane, a song reflecting on home, friends and laughter, even during times of isolation and distress. Ron Clearfield offers the uncanny bliss of an enchanting cello in the album's title track. "Carolina" is a lush and beautiful song written by Johnson in dedication and gratitude to James Taylor, who is a major influence. "Master of the Ring" gives the record a much-needed lift, as this up-tempo tune is carried gracefully by harmonies, and the magical poetry of this artist. The album is full of great compositions but lacks the quality and staying power of a radio-friendly hit. Still, I'm sure Victor Johnson is satisfied with his work, in which a powerful vision becomes a genuine reality. Everything on this album is delightful in terms of quality. The musicians contribute spontaneous, sophisticated instrumental work, with Johnson's strength not only as a composer but a wordsmith and poet shining forth. Even the artwork, created by Janis Dunckel is compelling and dreamy, adding the right touch of atmosphere to the music and lyrics. Songs like "September Bride","Scarlet", and "Sailing" point out the ease at which this artist excels. I was most moved by reading stay in touch, which is striking in it's wisdom and clarity. thanks! Bill On Aug 3, 2004, at 11:04 PM, Catherine McKay wrote: > --- Chris Marshall wrote: >> Awww, c'mon. Also - Philly 1976 concert Hi all, Just enjoying WTRF for the first time. Looking through the inside cover (it's a record), I noticed a peculiar painting of two horses who, shall we say, seem to be enjoying each other's company...I apologize if I'm just young and ignorant here, but are they doing what I think they're doing? Inquiring minds want to know... Thanks and love, Wes p.s. Does anyone know the gentleman (or lady) that recorded Joni's concert in Philly 1976? If you taped it or know the person who did, please contact me. Thanks. ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2004 #333 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
