The Pettycoat Junction cousins 'cause of the opening credits. Plus Goldie Hawn cause of the painted slogans when she was dancing in a bikini on Laugh-In. Both Bailey and Jennifer on WKRP, being updates of Betty and Veronica, respectively. We watched The Donna Reed Show when I was little. Although I didn't understand how beautiful Donna Reed was when I was six, I can't believe I missed her when I see "It's a Wonderful Life" now. Obviously Daisy Duke is in the list, being an update of Ellie May. How come no one has mentioned Val Bertinelli? Every time the topic turned to sex, she just lit up and had this smirk that makes me think ol' Eddie was a lucky man. That's enough from me on this topic. It works thru the brain-a physical thing-whereas the mind(or soul I uppose) is beyond the physical. Even with a spiritual context, things can still be very freaky. Even tho I am sure we survive physicval death, I still am freaked by 1. getting old(most unfair) and 2. dying. I'd be quite happy to die suddenly, i n my sleep preferably. I used to long for that time but now I don't. I want to stay put for a long while yet! At the same time, death-or rather leaving the physical and going into the realms of consciouness will be exciting. there is so much i want to know-I wnat to know about the Universe-the whole thing-I wnat to understand time and space. I want to udnertsand what this is all about. The why's and wherefore's of suffering, of birth, of death. The whole damn thing. Aside: many people think of Eternity as being a veyr long time when it would be no time at all-ie we wouldn't be aware of it being a 'long time' because tiem would not exist. Now that is a very weird thing and impossible to imagine. - -- bw colin http://www.btinternet.com/~tantraapso/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 May 2004 10:07:43 +1200 From: hell@ihug.co.nz Subject: RE: "TV" crushes njc Em wrote: > Then let me just add: Julie Andrews Julie Andrews > Julie Andrews Julie Andrews Julie Andrews Julie > Andrews Julie Andrews Julie Andrews Julie Andrews > Julie Andrews Julie Andrews... umm did I mention > Julie???? in everything she was *ever* in > .......they shoulda known not to show that Mary > Poppins flick to little girls 4 years old..that it > would immediately guarantee they would be lez... > or?? am I wrong??? ammm I???? Definitely not! And I have to say the addition of Dick Van Dyke (there's a contradiction in terms, if I ever heard one!) with the WORST British accent in the history of the cinema would be enough to guarantee any girl would be swayed - - yuck (although I did like the Dick Van Dyke Show)! But Victor/Victoria remains one of my all-time favourite movies - as much for Lesley Ann Warren's performance as Norma Cassady (the train scene alone is reason enough to watch this movie!) as for Julie Andrews. I remember watching Julie's TV show when I was young, and wanting to BE her. I also saw a great interview with Rupert Everett (before he was in that awful movie with Madonna) where he admitted that as a child he truly believed that Julie Andrews was his real mother, but she was too busy in Hollywood to look after him, and one day she'd come back and get him! I want to play. On one of the rare occasions when I was sick or weazled my way out of Sunday evening church services while growing up I watched an episode of Walt Disney. It was about a boy and a man who was his mentor of sorts. Don't remember who the boy was but the man was a young Earl Holliman. I loved him so much that it hurt. Seems silly now but that kind of thing happens to young homos. Also had the biggest crush on Vincent Van Patten. oooohhhh!!!!!! He produced a movie a few years back called the break. B-budget and B-flick I suppose but surprisinly well done and had some heartwrenching moments, one of which was the dream to play tennis at the U.S. Open which was a dream of mine.
