Today I was walking along & two senior aged, business type guys passed me & I heard one say to the other that something was a hassle... It struck me as funny cuz at one time this word was hippy slang (I am pretty sure that is where it started, someone will correct me I am sure if this is wrong)...that has now become mainstream... When I worked as a writer my boss & I would disagree all the time about comma placement! How anal can you get? LOL... I had learned that less is best... I whole heartedly agree with you on the above statement! I have always felt that the citizens in our country need to understand other cultures better. Whether by travel or by study. Following 9/11 my gut feeling was that we needed to take the difficult high road & get an understanding of why this had happened. Many interpreted this kind of thinking as unpatriotic & supportive of terrorism. Sigh... One person even told me that we needed to attack all the 'islams' cuz they attacked us... Yes, learning about other cultures would lead to a more peaceful world... She is returning the donations because she was not able to make headway with this. Thought you all might like to know. Hugs, Ashara Any more details on what went wrong? Lack of funds? Unable to get local officials or leaders on board? Certainly this project is do-able. Bryan NP: The Very Best of Dionne Warwick (why did I wait so long to get this CD?) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Apr 2004 00:09:05 EST From: BRYAN8847@aol.com Subject: Blackwater NJC The murder and mutilation of the four American civilians in Iraq this week was disgusting, of course. After it was reported that they were employees of a private security services firm called Blackwater, I became curious and looked them up on the web. Check out the site, it's fascinating....in a dark way. I'm troubled just by the existence of this company and similar ones. The potential for the government using such a firm against domestic "insurgents" comes to mind (call me paranoid, but stranger things have happened). www.blackwaterusa.com Bryan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Apr 2004 00:27:09 EST From: Smurfycopy@aol.com Subject: Re: Sex and the Joni and Prince and "The Excrcist" with bunnies After a very long silence, Nuriel writes: << Hi folks, Do you think that Joni is good in bed? I haven't burned it or played it on the big rig but it "made my day" at work. It's a great "driving" type of single. I wish they had a copy of "Silver Tightrope" but no luck. It's an obscure Yes-like epic that I have only on a dubbed cassette. I also bought a Joan Baez track called "Dida" for the Joni content but.... Uhmm... Joni's on it but.... Well, let's just say I'm withholding a recommendation unless someone actually collects stuff that sounds like a TV theme from the 70s. I like that track and was happy to "find" it on the 2nd disc of the limited edition of OCTOBER ROAD. I think the track is called "Sailing To Philadelphia". (That city name has appeared twice in a single hour which is an amazing coincidence!) In my estimation, JT had only one weak "side" in his whole career so far (the red/yellow side of FLAG). Everything else, from Flying Machine onward, exhibits a fine attention to detail. He's never sing-songy. Sometimes it seems odd that I'm a Taylor completist but not a McCartney completeist, but there it is. All the best, Jim Chris discovered, >Are collaborating, it seems. Just heard a song on t'radio this morning which was rather nice. I didn't recognise the singer as being JT, but I did think the guitar sounded like Knopfler. So when it was announced that it was JT and MK, I was doubly surprised (a) that they were collaborating and (b) that I was right about the guitar!> ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2004 #143 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
