The thing is, if you use Paypal, the person would have paid you before you even ship out the goods you're sending to them, so there's more risk to them as the buyer than there is to you as the seller. How do they know you'll follow through and send them what they've paid for? They have to trust you and I guess that's what the E-Bay rating system is there for. It could also be sheer laziness - not wanting to have to worry about calculating cost of mailing to another country or something like that. ===== Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all live so close to that line, and so far from satisfaction ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Mar 2004 09:29:19 EST From: LCStanley7@aol.com Subject: Re: character counts, njc Kate wrote: I drove past a school last night where they have a big banner that says 'Character Counts' & a long list of honorable character traits. Very nice of you & I really appreciate it. So, a few of you asked what my connection to Joni is about. I first became aware of Joni Mitchell when I was 12 years old (back in in 1970!). I was stunned by her lyrics. I thought "Now, here's a kindred spirit. Not only is she tapping into my soul, but she knows what I'm thinking & feeling". Not that it's all about me, but hey...I was 12! I was a bit of a loner back then and I still can be at times...I have to make myself bust out from time to time! Joni has gotten me through some rough times over the years and continues to do so to this day. I've enjoyed every musical style Joni's ventured into, although I'm most partial to her first 4 or 5 albums. Listening to those first albums (album sounds weird, but what DO you call them now?...CDs, I guess) is like calling up an old friend for a visit. The music I listen to at any given moment is reflective of my mood. That's why I appreciate Joni's many styles. I grew up in Bellingham, Washington and lived in Seattle for many years. Currently, I live in LA (North Hollywood, to be exact) and work as a Personal Assistant. I'm in the process of job hunting, as it's getting real old having to be responsible for someone else's life...then my own life takes second place, and no job is worth that. I used to work in the non-profit world and may go back there again. My spare time is spent listening to music, reading and creating mosaics. I'm looking to take a stained glass or glass-blowing class. Well, that's enough about me. Thanks again to everyone who welcomed me on board. I enjoy reading all your comments...as varied and passionate as they are! It is extremely sleazy and it reminds me of something mobsters would do, except that it's supposed to be legitimate. They do it here too and it costs you megabucks to get your car out, and they charge you a LOT for every day your car is in the pound. Have you ever read "A man in full" by Tom Wolfe? There's an incident in that book about the very thing. In the last couple of years in Toronto they've put in new parking meters - not the kind where you put coins in and turn a knob and where there's one for every parking space, but one where you have to walk half a block to put your money in and get a ticket back that you have to be sure to display prominently on your dashboard, and beware of any breeze that might blow it away or flip it over as you're closing your car door (oh yeah, and they tripled the amount charged at the same time). If it's a parking lot near a subway station, rather than a spot on the street, there's even a minimum amount you have to pay. So if you're going somewhere for 5-10 minutes, you have to pay for half an hour anyway. And they patrol those things like hawks because they make LOTS of money from them. Yes, it's a great cash cow for the city but what a ripoff! ===== Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all live so close to that line, and so far from satisfaction ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Mar 2004 11:57:03 -0800 From: "Kate Bennett" Subject: CozyWing introduction NJC My husband has designed & manufactured a new product that may interest many of you travelers.
