I find it fun to look beyond the concept of a simple medical diagnosis and focus more on the song as a reference to interesting mental capabilities, the genius of an artist like Joni. This song seems to be another example of a strategic use of duality in a Joni song. Regarding a medical diagnosis, perhaps it was about dissociative identity disorder (formerly called multiple personality disorder). Schizophrenia involves auditory hallucinations, not additional personalities. However, I think the song is much more interesting to think about from the perspective of art rather than mental illness. It reminds me of the way some people are thought of as having a problem rather than a gift when they are different from the "norm." And, I think this song empowers people to thrive when their gifts are branded as a pathology. At least that is what it does for me. Judie has been busy over the last few months working on the new studio album that is presently being called 'The End Of The Beginning'. She has about 5 tracks pretty much completed and at this point it is looking like a rockier album than she has released in a while. The song 'I Will' which was previewed on the last tour sounds great, I know many of you are looking forward to hearing it again. The first live chance to hear 'I Will' will be when Judie performs on the 26th of March at Cabot Hall, Canary Wharf in London and on the 27th of March at The Mick Jagger Centre in Dartford (Venue details at bottom of email). As these are London gigs I wouldn't leave it to late to buy tickets, these venues aren't as big as some of the other venues Judie has played in the capitol. We are planning a tour in October, we had originally thought about an acoustic tour, but as the album is turning out to be quite rocky we decided that the tour will have to be another fabulous full electric show. We will send you the dates as soon as it's set up. You may have already noticed but the website has had a major facelift: http://www.tzuke.com Some of the new things on the site include: a picture page, a 'Q&A with Judie' page (send questions for this to jamie@tzuke.com) and the new online shop. We now have some items of clothing, merchandise and programmes from the last few tours. There's only a very limited stock of some items so buy now! http://www.tzuke.com/shopcart/clothing.php We will be introducing new items over the next few months, and we have just introduced the Helms of Awe Pendant - Judie's lucky symbol - as seen on recent album covers and Tzuke tour merchandise. All credit and debit card transactions now go through WorldPay - this adds even more security to transactions and allows the use of a larger array of card types (inc. Switch). Lastly we have changed the pricing system, reducing the cost of the CDs. CDs are now #12 and DVDs are #15. Postage & Packing costs are dependent on amount ordered and where in the world you live.
