So, what, next week it'll be JT? btw, I'm still furious with CSN for the dreadful concert they put on in Aruba last fall. Russ and I left after 5 songs. When Joni did a live show in CA back in 96(?), they had a live braodcast of her show. David Dye loves Joni and the station plays her music often. One of the finest AAA stations in the US is WXPN in Philadelphia. They have syndicated their show, "The World Cafe", hosted by David Dye. He's had everyone from Odetta to Dar Williams on. Yes, he's had Joni on at least twice. He completely understands her brilliance and asked smart questions. What can you tell me about it. Joni Mitchell The Posall and Mosalm Songs: The Circle Game with Chuck Mitchell, London Bridge, Joni's Coke Commercial, Eastern Rain, Just like Me, The Bagel Game, The Posall and Mosalm, Canadian Mythology, Brandy Eyes, Drummer Man, Winter Lady, Mr. Blue, Urge for Going, Quenn (or Queen?) Siquomb, Approximately, Sugar Mountain Plus a bunch of interview. Vibrator Record Company The vinyl disc was blue with white marbling. It had a drawing of a caricaturized naked Joni taking an apple from the snake on the jacket cover . Didn't say who did the drawing. I suppose she (Joni) could have done it. Opening bid was 147.00. I think they'd take 179.00 up front. Later, Jono - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: ""jlobello"" Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2004 2:23 PM Subject: Re: Cds > Sur?). Is it still geology when the subject is Mars? I don't think so. I think the "geo" part originally meant "earth". Is it "maralogy?" That would have a beauty to it too. Anyway, there's some cool info coming back already. From orbit years ago, the colors (and concentrations of colors) looked like Mars has hematite. One of the landers has already done some chemical analysis and confirmed hematite on the surface. That is a very big deal as I understand it because hematite is a form of iron that only grows in... (wait for it)... liquid water. I guess one of the big questions is "what happened to the water?" I don't know about you, but I'd sure like to know. Maybe long after all of us are gone maralogy will point the way for keeping our own marbled bowling ball *blue* for many more generations. That would be a cool legacy from a generation that has made so many mistakes in so many other areas. Let us pray, Jim L'Hommedieu By the way, the unmanned US efforts overhead are directed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Much of web info coming out of the JPL is managed at Cornell University. I guess Dr. Sagan's influence is still strong at JPL. To his memory I'll say, "Sleep well, old man. Your dream is alive yet." [Sue Mac, I'm sure you are still at Cornell. Are you still around the JMDL?] ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Feb 2004 23:10:01 -0800 From: "kakki" Subject: Re: Mars, njc It is very cool, indeed. Along those lines - I had dinner with a former co-worker last week whose husband is one of those brilliant physicists at JPL. He has been working for 14 years on a project that will determine and analyze from space every kind of pollutant and chemical floating in our troposphere and from where they originate and where they drift toward and congregate. The device will be launched very soon from Vandenberg AFB and all fingers are crossed it be successful. Sounds amazing.
