I'll begin. It was a small local hangout for gay men in downtown Montreal called the Agora, probably a Saturday night, maybe 8 years ago, regular patrons, in town with my friend John. He sang ``Rocky Racoon``. Not to be outdone, to my delight BYT was on the roster (I know that one, thought I) so I gave that a go. Wondering if any other Joni tunes have ever ended up on the karaoke lists? And who may have sung them ?? During this year's Super Bowl, you'll see ads sponsored by beer companies, tobacco companies, and the Bush White House. But you won't see the winning ad in MoveOn.org Voter Fund's Bush in 30 Seconds ad contest. CBS refuses to air it. To check out the ad and ask CBS to air ads like this one, you can go to the MoveOn.Org Website Page about this, http://www.moveon.org/cbs/ad/, and if you choose, you can write CBS to protest their unfair and biased practices. Or you can just go here, http://www.moveon.org/cbs/, to sign the petition, without viewing the ad/movie, if you've already seen it. ~Richard n.p. That's impressive. I think we should take up a collection to make sure Dylan gets to JoniFest this year, just to add a few points :-) So, um, really - 4? Have you considered a run for the White House? (I don't even know if you're American, of course...) But, hey, at least Joni would be on the list of favorite musicians among the candidates! lots of love Anne ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jan 2004 17:13:29 +1100 From: "Dylan Rush" Subject: RE: Hell test (njc) >Wow, Dylan! 4??? Yes, 4, 'cause I'm only thirteen - therefore everything about drugs, sex and dating is out, which only left "Have you ever laughed at another's misfortune?" and... um... the one about talking on the phone... *blushes* >Have you considered a run for the White House? Down to You.... and life is good again! oh, i know *exactly* how you feel! my heart glows and i sink into bliss when i hear the first few bars of "Court and Spark". same for Down To You - I love the first line - "Everything comes and goes/Marked by lovers and styles of clothes". I love this because it is so dismissive and yet it always proves to be true. people are so insecure but in the end everything always turns out alright. just beautiful. recently in Sydney we've been having huge thunderstorms w/lightning... one such night it was getting particularly violent, so I put on Joni's version of "Stormy Weather"... and then Both Sides, Now came on. was that ever magic. i thought of rachel when it came on - it's her favourite version - and it suited the scene so well and so beautifully, especially given the clouds involved. i really don't know where i'd be without joni today. _________________________________________________________________ Hot chart ringtones and polyphonics.
