I hate discussing politics, but it has occurred to me that if we were to have a system where all of us would have a say in who is the prez of the USA, or leader of any country, or at least any country that has power (because, let's face it, we don't give a rat's ass about the others, har-har), how would that work? Would we be one world federation? How would we divide up the constituencies in a way that would ensure that the powerful and affluent areas shared with the less powerful and less affluent ones (because, after all, wouldn't the goal be to be fair to everyone, or is that just my naivete or too much wine talking?) How would we decide who to make the big decisions? Should we give that power to some tiny but stable country that has no real power otherwise? (not one with any recent history of dictators for example, so forget about Haiti and Spain, much of South America and Africa; and not one that has too much church-and-state stuff going on, so rule out the Vatican and some of the Muslim states) Like Monaco maybe? Lots money, lotsa pretty people, probably no bombs. Just a thought, not a very serious one and anyway it doesn't much matter, does it? Never mind. I'm done now. ===== Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all live so close to that line, and so far from satisfaction ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jan 2004 19:21:55 -0500 (EST) From: Catherine McKay Subject: Re: John Guerin 1939-2004 --- Chris Marshall wrote: > Oh, this really is sad news. > > He played on the albums that, for me, make up Joni's > sweet spot: C&S, Hissing, Hejira and DJRD. > > When I get the chance to specify what sort of > drummer > I'd like to play with, it's Hissing, Hejira and DJRD > I point to as an example. > > Damn. > Was his not the boom-boom pachyderm on which all those pretty girls were hanging? Yeah, the Anders' documentary covers, at least in part, the making of TRAVELOGUE. I think the delay may be a Good Thing. It means that Joni-The-Perfectionist is driving rather than Norma-The-Reckless. Maybe Ms. Anders proposed a simple title like "The Making Of Travelogue" We all know that will never fly! Maybe Joni wants to put the "A" back in the title: "The Making Of A Travelogue" but then the production company would want her name above the title so then it would be: "Joni Mitchell: The Making Of A Travelogue" It has to go through revisions so as to confuse the public. This time out she's not revising stuff after the promotion machinery has already started and again, that's a Good Thing. It takes TIME to figure out how to shoot one's self in one's foot. Maybe they're waiting until the supplies of TRAVELOGUE and the WOHaM DVD are gone. That's called "waiting for the sell-through". (Paz- It's now *OKAY* to start thinking about PazFest2. ) You want consumers to buy every new thing from a brand; you don't want them to decide between new things from a brand. I know we had the discussion a few months ago about who "Coyote" might be and I suggested it was possibly about him. Reading his Bio it now points all fingers that "Coyote" was written about him because of his ranch and love for horses. It would also mean that "Wild Things Run Fast" would single him out and the painting Joni did could be of his horses.
