Sorry Kate, I totally disagree it is analogous. No one ever said moveon made the video but they hosted/sponsored the two videos and left them up on the website through the voting process. It wasn't until Jewish organizations protested that they removed them and backtracked. If you go to their website for the contest it says right at the top "Sponsored by moveon.org voter fund" http://www.bushin30seconds.org/ Even more interesting is news that came out today that one of the Nazi video makers, Michael Stinson, is a finalist for one of the other videos in the moveon contest. Stinson himself was bragging and laughing about it on the Democratic Underground forum and he has posted the Nazi video on his website. http://www.takebackthemedia.com/bushnonazi.html It just gets thicker and thicker. I've heard the > Republican "right wing"/Fascist comparison since the 60s. It's an old > staple! > > Kakk I wasn't speaking of you personally, Kakki. But the fact that you have never heard it, proves the point I made. It was mentioned that a Jewish leader was outraged over the comparison. I repeat, where has their, and others, outrage been over the Clinton/Hitler comparison for the last 14 years? The citations I sent were multiple, including just the one you mention. The letter was ALSO posted on a website which significantly widens its exposure and impact. There are hundreds, still. And the comparisons to Hitler go all the way to Franklin Roosevelt, the Democrat of all Democrats. The Republicans lay no claim to it. Clinton knew the terrorist threat was real, and actions he took against bin Laden were dismissed by his opponents (those Republicans who were dogging him from the moment he took office) as Clinton trying to distract people from his domestic problems. Clinton and his administration turned over to the Bushies all the information they had about bin Laden and al Qaeda, and the Bushies ignored it all. If Bush was genuinely trying to get rid of terrorists, there would be more activity in Afghanistan, and more honesty regarding Saudi Arabia and that government's role in promoting terrorism. Invading the Middle East was planned long ago, and Sept 11 and terrorism are just the excuse for it. September 11 was the "Pearl Harbor" that Rumsfeld and other neocons were waiting for. And, if the Bushies were serious about "Homeland" security, they would give the cities and states the money needed to put that security into place. As is usual with Bush, it's all talk and photo-ops, and it's appalling to me the way people fall for it. > ... The economy is the > best, as far as indicators, it has been in decades. Big or Small. Ridiculous or Sublime. So I am hoping they pay attention to this: I am supporting General Wesley Clark for President. Not only as a "celebrity," but as an American citizen and as a mother. I want my children to grow up with the same opportunities that I had -- to know and understand what's going on in the world and to travel that world safely and with pride. I fear the future I wish for my children is at risk, so I'm taking action. Please join me. Our greatest risk is not terrorism, and it's not Iraq or the Axis of Evil. Our greatest risk is a lack of leadership, a lack of honesty and a complete lack of consciousness. Unfortunately our current government cannot see the big picture. They think too small. They suffer from the what's in it for me? syndrome. The simple truth is that the current administration has squandered incredible opportunities to bring the world together, to promote peace in regions that have only known war, to encourage health in places that are ravaged with disease, to make us more secure by living up to our principles at home and abroad. The simple truth is that the policies of our current administration do not reflect what is great about America. Thankfully, we have a candidate running for President who is committed to ensuring that our country lives up to its promise and its people. Wes Clark is a decorated soldier and a respected diplomatic leader who has already given 34 years to his country. He is smart and he is good. He has worked hard to get where he is and he is a national hero. A perfect example of the American Dream. I've never aligned myself with a presidential candidate during the primary season. But this time, the stakes are just too high, we have too much to lose and there is so much work to be done. I'm joining you in supporting General Wesley Clark in 2004. I have committed to do all that I can to help his campaign in the coming months, and I'm asking you to do the same. He needs all of us to reaffirm our support today, at the start of the New Year. I've looked at all the Democratic candidates. I respect them all for their dedication and patriotism. But I'm supporting Wes Clark because in him I see the qualifications, character and vision that we so desperately need. We are a country with incredible promise. As Americans, we enjoy opportunities like no other. Unfortunately we too often take these opportunities for granted. You may not agree with everything I say or do, but whether you're rich or poor, young or old, black or white, gay or straight, I know you share my concern and recognize the need for change. If you can give, give generously. If you can volunteer time, get involved now. And don't be shyshare your support with everyone you meet. If it helps, spread this message on to everyone you know. My opinions have made news before. Let's make some news in 2004. Upheavals in society such as Vietnam, the deaths of the Kennedy brothers and Martin Luther King, Jr. and the tragedy at Altamont, even the breakup of the Beatles, took their toll on a society of young men and women who had led a freewheeling youth, and this was reflected in the music of the time.=20 As the golden age of the Beatles finished, so did the golden age of America - and for both, a new age of highly personal lyrical navel-gazing took flight. As old groups disbanded (The Birds, Buffalo Springfield and the Hollies), new groups were formed (Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young).=20 POPULAR SONG: SOUNDTRACK OF THE CENTURY explores the careers of singer-songwriters such as James Taylor, Carole King, Randy Newman and Jackson Browne. By the mid-Seventies the mellow sound of the Eagles was the best-selling music in the world. But with punk looming over the horizon, the backlash was only a moment away.=20 Featured Artists: America, The Byrds, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Eagles, The Grateful Dead, The Band, Joni Mitchell.
