I must've been a very good girl this past year ; ) He brought me a new DVD player, along with the S & L dvd and WOHAM dvd! I am just loving watching both dvd's over and over!! The S & L dvd actually contains the footage of Joni and Toller Cranston iceskating - it's so beautiful that I get tears in my eyes; and now I can actually watch the performances of Hejira and Edith, as they were never on my vhs tape (even though they were listed on the box). The WOHAM dvd is great, too! The sound quality is superb, and there are so many additional features that were never included on the PBS tv special. I noticed a misprint on the packaging though. They listed "the Arrangement" as "the Agreement." Who proofreads this kind of stuff? or was this the original name of the song? I also received Rickie Lee Jones' latest CD, which is very groovy and I recommend this one as a must have for all her fans. When I first listened to it, it reminded me alot of Beck (who I also adore). Not that the music itself is similar, but the two artists seem to have a similar method of weaving different music styles from the past into such unique artsy-fartsy forms that it makes my mind travel to such beautiful places that I can't even begin to describe! Have a Very Happy and Safe New Year! Of course that's what it is, my dear friend Buck. I have to admit that I eat and enjoy meat (I cooked steak for xmas dinner, in fact), but I do have reservations about it. As for "morality," it's just me, fanning the flames (of the grill?) and also admitting that I often wonder why we humans assume we should eat our fellow living creatures. Happy 2004! I personally don't like the idea of animals suffering (or anybody) at any time in any way. . . I think however that humans are carniverous. . . I think we, as a species, are slowly moving away from eating animals in a big way. . . not that I necessarily think humans will someday never eat meat. Our bodies seem to be changing, evolving. . . think about our canine teeth and how they have reduced in size throughout the years. . . I wonder if there are other physical changes that our bodies have maifested since the change from a hunting and gathering society to a farming society. . . Anyway, I think the beef industry is a big part if the US economy. We could have some serious long term risks to the export and domestic sales of cows (beef). I am telling my friends and family to stop eating beef, at least for now. I guess I do not trust that the government will protect us until several are harmed. (What? No trust for the government?) It is too big of an industry to start getting the populace concerned (I believe would be their strategy.) I say, act conservatively here, and lay off the beef. . . Better safe than sorry. It is easy for me to say, years ago I used to love hamburgers. . but now I haven't eaten them in a long time. Listening to America - Ventura Highway Album during dinner tonight. . A part of my past. My sister put it on. ps. I feel very sorry for the people of Iran who suffered in the earthquake. I read in the paper today that the death toll is up to 30,000 and could reach as high as 50,000. The town, Bam Iran (or is it Kerman Iran- I've seen both of these listed) has 80,000 citizens. Best to you all.
