Saddam was not at the heart of the internal Iraqi resistance and nothing to do with al queda so if the public gets the feeling this ends everything, and when it ends nothing - might be very interesting Vince ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Dec 2003 00:12:33 -0500 From: "Joseph S.E. His trial seems to be running on for years and he has been allowed to browbeat witnesses against him and engage in endless tirades. I sincerely doubt any such thing will happen to Saddam Hussein. If the United States keeps him captive, the Iraqis won't like that. They will insist that he be turned over for trial. Yet I don't see how the Iraqis would be able to maintain security. I would expect that someone will try to kill him. The thinking will be, why have a trial when we are going to execute him anyway? On the other hand, it won't serve US interests to have a "show trial" where Hussein could get all sorts of publicity and become a martyr. Best course for the US would probably be to put him in a jail cell for the rest of his life. Why let the guy get all that publicity when they could simply put him into obscurity? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Dec 2003 02:20:05 -0500 From: ljirvin@jmdl.com Subject: Today's Library Links: December 15 On December 15 the following articles were published: 1994: "Question and Answer: Joni Mitchell" - Rolling Stone (Interview) http://www.jmdl.com/articles/view.cfm?id=19 1994: "Turbulent Indigo" - Rolling Stone (Review - Album, with photographs) http://www.jmdl.com/articles/view.cfm?id=290 2002: "The teacher and the debt" - The Age (Australia) (Biography) http://www.jmdl.com/articles/view.cfm?id=1038 ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2003 #623 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
