I have never heard that before. And to > think of all the ungodly things done in his name Well, shoot. Think of all the ungodly things done in the name of Jesus, fer Chrissakes. Doesn't it always come down to trying to make the other guy think the way you do? (Not you personally, Kakki.) When power is at stake, everything else -- especially moral teachings -- is forgotten. It's remembered when it's convenient or serves the "cause." Vince quoted, from Acts: >> "they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, >> to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 Awe came upon everyone, >> because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. 44 >> All who believed were together and had all things in common; 45 they >> would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds >> to all, as any had need. " Kakki responded: > I always interpreted that to apply only to the group of apostles - Hmm ... that's not how I read it. "Awe came upon everyone ..." Everyone was blown away by the Apostles. Everyone = All. Vince again: >> And that builds upon the Prime Covenant (Old Testament) teachings >> that forbid interest on loans, commands forgivenesss of all debts, >> and grants to all, whether they can work or not, food and land in >> the community. What a bunch of socialists the people of God are, >> damn them, the heretics. Kakki's response: > I interpret that as good moral teachings from God or his > representatives, not as an exhortation from God to secular government > to mandate it. But, but ... If the "Christians" in our secular government had their way, we would all be following God's teachings -- or at least their interpretation of them. (Face it: their interpretation bears almost no resemblance to anything god-like.) > The bible also says: > > Thou shalt not steal > Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors' goods It also says "Thou shalt not kill." Yet GW Bush the born-again Christian has seen to it that we're doing plenty of that. Oddly enough he can, at times, write pop songs that you'd think were written by Lennon/McCartney. Check out the great duet with Lucinda Williams on such a tune on the above mentioned. Yes. The Nazis were the right wing of socialism and Marxism was the left wing. The Nazis and the Russian communists collaborated for awhile as allies and then fell out. Incredibly, many people who have not really studied history in depth analogize "right wing" Nazi fascism " with "right wing" Republicans in the U.S. "They are both 'right wing' so that means they are both fascist." Wrong. Republicans are not socialist and are not the right wing of the socialist party in the U.S. (obviously).
