Sometimes I wonder if the "recognition" you talk about isn't their own fear that maybe they might, if not today, then maybe one day, be just a little bit attracted to someone of their own sex? Just a thought... If your Dad is a homophobe, does that mean he doesn't love *you*? Sorry if I'm being too personal, but I can't imagine NOT loving my children. They'd have to do something really bad (like premeditated murder, maybe) for me to stop loving them. Somehow, being gay just isn't on the list of things I might possibly stop loving them for (I don't have a list, but sometimes I wonder - what does it take for a parent to stop loving their kids? I just can't imagine not loving mine, even though there are times they drive me completely nuts.) > i can't > tell you why a person would be threatened, i suppose > there are as many reasons > as there are people. fear is a very personal thing > and can be a very > destructive thing. Sometimes I wonder whether some people aren't afraid that gay-ness is perhaps contagious or something? Or dazzle 'em with bullsh*t: "We are post-modern, fusion/militant/acid/reggae singer-songwriters in the folk tradition of troubadours. The starting point for our songs is ambivalence towards our anger." Best suggestion: Wait for Bob Murphy to weigh in on this topic. I opened with the Welcome Gathering and closed with her look of wondrous rapture. "Open with a bang and close with a bang," I always say. Okay, I'm done now. Goodspeed said, >Unfortunately the movie itself was not so grand. Unless you're a big fan of unrequited romantic love between young gorgeous women with exquisite skin and men 5 to 20 years older with considerably more wrinkles. ; ) did have a very good Altman-sized cast though. ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2003 #582 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
