We've been able to pay off this month's mortgage. Step right up and be a lurker :~) I'm really not a lurker. I'm actually Very busy - like Alison. Don't be a lurker if you don't have to be. Post to the List!!! It's so much more rewarding to post than to receive cash. I'm still trying to write a post about Smurph's kickass eggplant parmesan that he so lovingly made and brought to our house that night. My Dad is still raving about it! Mags, my Dad thanks you for your kind words, but I'll write more later. jody xox - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Monday, October 27, 2003 9:00 PM Subject: Top Ten Reasons Why the JMDL Went Quiet -- NJC > Top Ten Reasons Why the JMDL Went Quiet: > > > 10) JMDLers everywhere struck dumb by Lisa Minelli's latest marital disaster > > > 9) Word got out that Les is offering cash prizes for lurkers > > > 8) Everyone's pretending they're "too busy" -- like Alison > > > 7) In an exclusive interview, Joni denonces fans as "pimps and ho's with no > bling bling" > > > 6) The list is still bitterly divided over the whole death taxes issue > > > 5) People everywhere continue to quietly celebrate Yankees loss in World > Series > > > 4) Entire list loses interest after months without a gay thread > > > 3) Joni has 800 restraining orders hand-delivered > > > 2) Two words: she's retired! > > > And the Number One reason why the JMDL went quiet: > > > Newly-discovered "Covers Disease" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Oct 2003 03:18:34 -0300 From: "Wally Kairuz" Subject: october 28!!!! njc 'tis julius' birthday!!!! From Angela Lansbury to Bette Midler to Tine Daily (or > something). Never could see what the big deal was bout Merman. Blowsy and loud. I love Roz but would rather see her as Auntie Mame or Sylvia 'Prowler' in 'The Women'. She just didn't have the voice for those songs in 'Gypsy'. Never seen Tyne or Angela or Bernadette in the role. Personally, based on my limited experience, I thought Bette Midler was perfect as Mama Rose. It seems to be a part that she was born to play. Just my opinion and I know there are some here who do not agree. I don't know. It did not compel me to buy a CD of > Bernadette Peters but I am on the lookout for Tammy Blanchard's > career. You may be interested to know, Joseph, that Tammy Blanchard played the adolescent Judy Garland in a surprisingly well done tv movie called 'Life with Judy Garland - Me and My Shadows' based on Lorna Luft's book. Tammy shared the role with Judy Davis who played Garland as an adult and both were outstanding. Tammy was a real ringer for the young Judy in this movie, capturing her sweetness, her insecurity and endearing vulnerability with uncanny accuracy. Judy Davis took the part at the time of 'Meet Me in St. Louis' and Judy's relationship and marriage to Vincente Minelli and made it into a tour de force. Both actresses won well-deserved Emmy's. I'm glad to hear Tammy Blanchard is doing this part on Broadway. I think she would be perfect for it. She is an extremely talented young woman and I hope she goes far. But - -- and this is really vague -- the similarity is more in the intellect or the attitude than in the voices. Anyway, what a voice she has. I had several Renaissance albums over the years, in the mid-late 70s, and I really dug them (the albums Song for All Seasons and Azure D'or especially). I should look for those on CD. I had one of Annie's solo albums a few years ago and I thought it to be rather weak (weak songs, not performance). In France, they call a revered hero "a national treasure"... Nash speaks from adoration. All the best, Lama Paul said,> what remains is that I think he has a weird view of Joni........as if she is an expensive museum piece. Of course, her fans do that as well, but Nash knows Joni so personally, they shared a bed, they loved eachother......to see him talk about Joni makes me very uncomfortable, for her......> ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2003 #533 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
