I like them (much better than Celine - but my daughter also likes John Mayer and Seal, so she's forgiven!) And Matthew's learning to play "Smells like teen spirit" on the guitar and it actually sounds pretty good too. I didn't have that much faith in the kid when he first started taking lessons because he tends to lose interest rapidly. However, he really likes his guitar teacher, who is pretty cool, and he's enjoying playing Nirvana (rather than "Twinkle, twinkle, little star", which is where he started.) ===== Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all live so close to that line, and so far from satisfaction ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2003 22:26:06 EDT From: Murphycopy@aol.com Subject: Re: NJC I spy for the FBI Muller writes: << Bob, who spells his last name M-U-L-L-E-R and remembers when he WAS in the FBI which meant "female body inspector"... >> Here's an idea . . . maybe people shouldn't be kicked of the JMDL for transgressions. You wanted stuff that's not really well-known, or that's a bit off the beaten track, right? Otherwise, there's a lot more stuff, but here are some of my favourites. Some I've had for ages so they've gained a lot of sentimental value. 1. Laurindo Almeida - Duets with the Spanish guitar (he may have more than one of these, but this is with a singer by the name of Salli Terry and I think it's out of print, but I just love it. 2.Laurie Anderson - Big Science 3. Kathleen Battle - So many stars 4. Robert Charlebois - Solidaritude (and a bunch of other Quebecois stuff) 5. Veronique Sanson - it's a tossup between "Le maudit" and "Sans regret". ===== Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all live so close to that line, and so far from satisfaction ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2003 22:29:28 EDT From: HOOPSJOHN1@aol.com Subject: top 5? You know, I own maybe half the albums he produced and really like perhaps half the songs within... but that describes a great many albums and artists in my collection. It comes down to a matter of taste and preference; what really matters is the fact that Warren was a talented singer/songwriter, a musician who loved his work... and I admired that most. He also appeared to be a very likeable guy with a strange sense of humor. When asked for some words of wisdom, he replies, "Enjoy every sandwich." You've got to admit one more thing... at least he went out with dignity. Some thoughts passed through my mind as I watched the special; many of you know how much I've wished I could have been a musician. I wondered what I would really givebor give upbto have accomplished what Warren has in his lifetime. And there's nothing like a sudden commercial to sober you up fast from a good cry, is there?
