When you are angry with her for having done this, remember her reasons were beyond what anyone could touch; she made no decisions lightly. When you forgive her this act of pain, know she loved you as a friend yet had this thing she needed to do alone for her own self, her own peace. Comfort, comfort, now my people speak tenderly to Jerusalem and cry unto her that her warfare is over, that she has received more than her portion from Adonai. Rest eternal grant Andrea, Adonai, and let light perpetual shine upon Andrea. May our faith sustain us, our hope inspire us, and our love surround us in our grief. as we in our separate places, are gathering right now in a spiritual union of this beloved and loving community; in our unique geographical locations we are coming together as one to gently sing a song of love for Andrea as she moves into that communion with God which awaits all those whom God loves in whatever mystical unity in which we will be with God; we are coming together as one to gently sing a sing of love for Bruce as he mourns and cries - you are not alone, hear us sing for you that in grief and pain your comfort may found in our presence with you, present in one another's tears, tears I shed with you now. I don't remember anyone mentioning this in recent posts but it may be in some archive that I'm not aware of. The Joni content is comprised of her on three different shows; on the first, she sings "The Gallery" and plays guitar (of course) and then sings a duet with Cash (old tune that's been remade recently but I don't know the title offhand.) On the second segment, she sings "Clouds" and plays guitar, then sings another duet with Cash. On the final segment, she plays the dulcimer and sings "California"; then plays piano & sings "My Old Man" before doing another duel with Cash on "Girl From The North Country." If, by some chance, this is news to anyone else but me, I'd be glad to offer a VHS copy I've made of the complete DVD (for the cost of the tape and postage) but I ask that anyone I send one to also offer to make copies for others who might want one (if you have the capability), just in case I get inundated with requests. Sorry, but I don't have the equipment to burn DVD's at this time. The rest of the segments contain performances by The Monkees, Roy Clark, The Guess Who, Carl Perkins, Jose Feliciano, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Wonder, Roy Orbison, Creedence (CCR), Joe South, Bob Dylan and Derek & The Dominos. The quality is excellent. Kenny B P.S. Can someone tell me again what the difference is in subscribing to the Joni Digest compared with the full site? Obviously, the digest often has "no Joni content" but does the other site have MUCH more info? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Sep 2003 22:25:40 -0400 From: "Bree Mcdonough" Subject: Re: Andrea (NJC) >mark.travis@gte.net writes: >PS: I'm wondering if an email should be sent without the NJC tag. I'm really bothered by this. The usual questions arise - could I, could we, have done something to prevent this? Ultimately, probably not; still the question lingers. I hope Andrea realized somehow that there are people that care. It's pretty evident from what people have been saying, that people here did care about her. I think all most people really want to know that there are other people that give a crap about them, even if they've never met. That's what is all comes down to, really. People giving a crap about other people. Such elegant language, but maybe appropriate in such a case. I hope if Andrea is out there somewhere, she can find one of the lost and lonely ones and whisper in their ear that someone cares about them. ===== Catherine Toronto ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Sep 2003 23:35:24 EDT From: Murphycopy@aol.com Subject: Re: Andrea (NJC) - something you all should know Catherine writes: << I hope if Andrea is out there somewhere, she can find one of the lost and lonely ones and whisper in their ear that someone cares about them. >> That's a wonderful thought, Catherine. I wish I could say something meaningful or poignant about this tragedy, but I am at a loss for words. Andrea wrote to me very early on Sunday morning -- just before 5 AM -- to tell me how much she liked my recent parody. (She was always there with a kind word -- on list and off -- whenever I attempted to make people laugh.) I wrote back around 10 AM to thank her and to say I hoped she was enjoying the gorgeous weather we having this past weekend in the Northeast. I wish I understood. One day she was laughing and then the next day she was dead by her own hand. Could anything I or we might have said have changed her mind and spared her life? I will always wonder. I have been surprised by all the listers who have said they corresponded with Andrea off list, as I did. I think the JMDL was important to her. It's too bad she didn't ask us for help because I am sure she would have been deluged with offers. I am so sorry you have lost your best friend, Bruce. You are both in my thoughts. Take care, everyone. --Bob ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Sep 2003 22:41:10 -0700 From: Michael Paz Subject: Re: Andrea (NJC) Dear Bruce I am deeply saddened to hear this tragic news. I have lost so many friends this way and I can never come to terms with it at all. Although I only shared a few personal emails with her, I found her public posts witty and intelligent. You gave her a happy moment, Bob, so be happy about that - you gave her something and she got a laugh about it. That's a lot more than many of us can say about anything. And I think you're right about the jmdl - I really think it did help her, otherwise she wouldn't have stuck around. Ultimately I don't think there's too much anyone could have done to stop her, if she wanted so badly to end it. I hope Andrea > realized somehow that there are people that care. I think that she definately did. The last message she sent to me, on August 7th, was a very friendly and nice one, which struck me because for some reason we didn't seem to be able to connect well in some prior exchanges. I remember being glad that she was reaching out. I knew that she was in a lot of pain. I'm glad that she was able to find some friends in the jmdl. I think the list was more of a blessing than anything else. I am troubled by her decision as I think most everyone is. As Bob the coverking mentioned, I find it very fascinating to feel so much for someone I have never met before. When I think about it, I suppose there are hundreds of people who receive this mail everyday, who I don't even know by their names, let alone anything about them at all. And the reverse is true as well I suppose... For what its worth, I wish everybody the best, and send out a vibe of love and happiness, whether you're here in this world or elsewhere. I didn't mention it in my post last week but the person who started the boogie gathering I attended this Labor Day Weekend died on August 9th from natural causes. He was loved by many people and definately was a major inspiration to alot of people. His passing really resonated through the weekend as I found it very subdued and the usual spark wasn't there. But he did make me realize how precious life is and how important it is to live in the present and make the most out of being here. I truly sorry that Andrea wasn't able to overcome whatever demons she was struggling with and will try even harder to defeat the obstacles that I am facing in my own life. Victor NP: silence...
