I can echo this, Bob...Jody took the time to call me this week, and it was SO wonderful to hear her voice. Then she e-mailed me yesterday to say that she had found a new Joni cover that's not even on my "want" list! I'm bouncing off the wall to see what it is. Over the years Jody has sent me music, chocolate, Chicago deep-dish pizza (in a box with dry-ice to keep it cold!), and too many other things to name. When I went to my first Jonifest (1999) SHE was the one I REALLY wanted to meet, as we bonded not ony on Joni, but on Tom Waits, Elvis, The Replacements, even Stan Ridgway fer crissakes! And SHE showed up on crutches, which did not slow her down ONE STEP. And I won't even mention THOSE EYES. Oops, too late. ;~) I love Jody too. Luckily Jody has enough love in her for all of us. It may also appear on "Live At the Bottom Line" not sure, I don't have the CD handy at the moment. The Bottom Line CD is quite rare and has been out of print for some time. That was a great find! If you find an extra Ron, grab me one!! please :-) The most sought after Laura CD is "Nested" which was briefly released through Japan and is also to my knowledge, now out of print. It is the only "album" from Laura's catalog, aside from "Mother's Spiritual" which is a bit more easily found; that has never been released so far in the U.S on CD. By the way, is there anyone on the list that may have any Laura boots to trade? I know there are a few out there; one is called "New York Nights" I believe. I would be happy to trade for something, if I have something you might like! For Stephen, and anyone else who may care, another Laura story of mine is this: I attended one of her concerts in the '70s at Masonic Temple in Detroit. Laura was always kind of known for her "one red rose" draped over the piano. So before the concert, I had bought her a red rose and had a water tube put into the bottom of the stem (to keep the flower fresh) and then put it in a long box. When the show started and the curtain opened (it was dark) I threw the box on stage from the second row and it landed smack dab under her piano! She played the whole concert with that box sitting under the piano. Young and precocious as I was back then, and afraid she would never see it, toward the end of the concert I yelled out "Laura, look under your piano!!" She whispered back - "Look under the piano??" She got down on her hands and knees, saw the box, picked it up from under the piano and sat back on the piano bench with it. She took her time, slowly and carefully opening the box. She may have done this on purpose or by mistake, but when she opened the box she lifted the rose from the wrong side, and wound up showing the audience the rose with the water tube on top and the rose dangling at the bottom. She laughed and said, "This is the funniest flower I ever saw!" The audience laughed and again she whispered "Thank you for the rose." She carefully draped it over her piano, and continued on with the concert. That's another Laura moment I'll never forget! Best regards, Gary Heather wrote: >Hi Ron- >Do you mean Broken Rainbow?
