The the front seats don't just move back and forth but up and down. The steering wheel does the same. The milometer is digital. It also tells you how many miles you haev done on each trip, the fuel consumption rate, how many miles you can do before you need to fill up, the temperature outside, the time and a couple of other things I don't know what they are yet! The back lays down flat(essential because of my dogs). Air Con. ABS(the breaks only have to be touched and the thing stops!) It has loads of space and several of those cupboards. 8 speakers for the hi fi. Alarmed. Immobiliser. A key button for locking and unlocking which it can do from a distance. (i know cos I have tried it-i love this feature! I keep clicking my key!) It only needs servicing every 10,000. It takes 42 litres(approx) of diesel to fill it and does at least 500 miles per tank. When we pay at least $1.20 per litre, that is important. (a litre is less than 2 pints. I pint is 20 fl.ozs.) The whole thing is very cool and the best we have had. I am trying topersuade John to learn to drive but he shows no inclination to. My time in hospital recently showed me he oughtto really. i was 30 miles away andhe had to rely on neighbours to take him to me.(btw the osteopath seems to have sorted myneckout-little pain now, and the betablockers seem to have got my heart to behave for now.) Funny but the venue was a very posh auditorium which is rented by my temple for the high holidays. Felt weird to be where I normally go for services. The very long 1st set was I believe his next album, all new songs. Neil has written some kind of fiction novel around the songs (or vice versa) and he was telling us the story of grandpa and grandma in between each songs. While the new songs were nice, and reminisced of the old tunes, the story didn't really go anywhere ("cuckamany" is the right word, though I'm not sure how to spell it). At some point some french guy said out loud; "you talk too much, play Harvest". The audience reacted violently to this uncouth comment, and Neil replied "take care of him for me". Truth of the matter is everybody agreed with the heckler, but were too polite to say anything. A friend made a pun: "C'est Neil- Young", which means "senile young". Yeah I suppose you get there when you start telling stories of when you were 3 years old. The 2nd set was the classic Neil, although quite short. Actually there was a warning on the ticket itself: "a very special evening". I enjoyed the novelty. One for my dad, one for my friend who just graduated from college, one for myself, and one for a burnerless recipient. However, I had to remove one song from the mix of these CDs because my burner puts a few seconds between each song. I tried to remove the shorter version of "Carey" from the mix, but on the copy for the burnerless recipient, I accidentally omitted "The Priest." I will make a new copy of the disc with "The Priest" in and the shorter "Carey" out. If anybody w/o a burner would like a copy and doesn't like "The Priest," I can send you that one. I like "Carey" and I sent the lyrics to my friend Cary, who lives in another state. I'd have to say my favorites would be "River" and "For Free." If you'd like a copy, please send me an address and whether you want the original, the regular burnerless copy, or the "Priest"-free copy. He told me privately that there will be other surprises to come, too. But alas, no Martins or dulcimers! I was kind of perplexed as to why this guitar (Ibanez electric #2, blond-the one she used for her stage guitar-and I believe this is the same one from the Shadows and Light video) has so much corrosion on the pickups and other metal parts, I mean they are melting away! I've got electrics that are older than this with barely any corrosion like that. Did she tie it to the mast of Crosby's sailboat for five years? Toxic sweat? Stored in a hydroclauric acid factory? Acquiring minds want to know. As I started to read Ashara's post I was filled with trepidation when she got to the part "first the good news." I thought the bad news would be "and then she named us all personally and individually when the topic of the autograph hounds came up." LOL But seriously...I am curious about this, too. The few times I've meet her (and always with a jmdler(s)) she has always been quite gracious and I think we were not too obnoxious about getting a signature on a prized possession. Hopefully she'll have mercy on us ;-) Kakki ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 May 2003 20:40:44 -0700 From: "kakki" Subject: Re: This from Sam Feldman ...Re:Joni's new book? Good work Rose! But what a curious and cryptic response from Sam. Didn't she mention in some interviews or somewhere that she was going over all her old stories a few years ago to prepare for the book? From what I've experienced and seen, a sustained high carb diet can also lead to adult-onset diabetes in some people. I was headed that way until I went off all carbs for two years and a couple of my friends were diagnosed with diabetes from eating too much sugar, carbs and junk food. Once they stayed to the strict diet for a time, their insulin levels returned to normal and they could go off the oral insulin. Colin, I am SO jealous of that new car of yours! I want one so bad! A fridge for my diet cokes and 65 mph on diesel and I would be in traffic heaven! ;-) Wonder if they are in, or will come to the US? I'd love to have them to dub to cd and add to what we've got already. I'll return them to you of course... To tell the truth, I'm not sure if I still have the tapes. I was so turned off by what I had heard, initially, I may have taped over them. I will check tomorrow (it's late now and I need some sleep) and will let you know if I find them. If I have them, you're welcome to use them to aid in your project. When you get it together, maybe I could hear it all and discover some of what I missed.
