(That's a cue to my tag-team partners in the 'JMDL Boy-Girl Politically Moderate Choir'.) Jefferson brought more democracy into his world. He ratcheted freedom up several notches in his lifetime. He didn't get Lincoln's job, that's true. But then, Lincoln didn't get LBJ's job either. Each of those guys pushed things in the right direction. It's okay to be argumentative but I wouldn't use the word "uppity". It's one of those "charged" words, but anyway. Metaphorically speaking, Jefferson didn't invent the incandescent light bulb but he did modernize his world. Lama np: Crosby/Nash: "Immigration Man" mike in barcelona said, >>>>>and would that be Thomas Jefferson, who owned slaves and backed legislation to protect the rights of the slave owning classes and who presided over a country that defined black people in its constitution as worth 60% of a white person?>>>> ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 May 2003 01:21:49 -0400 From: "Lama, Jim L'Hommedieu" Subject: Re: "Ritual", in praise of, njc As Arsenio Hall might say, "Paz is in the h-aw-whse!" Yesfans so far: =============== Martin Giles Mariane Rizzo Victor Johnson Lama Michael Paz Les Ross Paz, an FOH engineer does the sound for the front of the house? Why do some bands sound so much better than others? I mean, I saw Tori Amos in a moderate-sized place and the sound was over-compressed like crazy. More than on CD. Is that a heavy hand on the board or are the speakers (horns) giving it dynamic compression? You'd never know from the sound that she was playing a great piano. (It was a Bosendorfer!) There's more at the door, Lama np: "Page 43" which is among Crosby's fine, fine moments. Shine on. If all my golden moments could be rolled into one they would shine just like the sun.
