First, it says that Wayne will be 70 on Aug 25th, although I can't believe this is true. He looks and sounds so young. Secondly it comments on his (quote) extraordinary collaboration (endquote) on Travelogue. I don't have this but seem to recall comments that his contribution was less than this. Thirdly, and here's the real Joni content, it says that on Aug 6th there is a concert in Los Angeles with the LA Phil and that Joni will sing one song (no mention of which it will be). Vince Mendoza responsible for orchestrations. I think they have season tickets. Here's what he wrote: Hi Gang: On August 6, 2003, Joni will appear at the Hollywood Bowl in Wayne Shorter's "Life and Music" concert. The concert begins at 8:00 PM. With Joni, Herbie Hancock is also billed as a special guest. The release says, "The consummate jazz saxophonist and visionary celebrates his varied career with some of his closest friends in this specially programmed concert." Right now, the Bowl is filling subscriber seats for series sales (This is in series JZ2). Others in this series of four concerts are Etta James (July 9), Joao Gilberto (July 23), and Medeski, Martin, and Wood (August 20). I am not sure when non-subscriber seats will go on sale, but you can try this link: http://www.hollywoodbowl.com No regrets, Coyote Rick Casa Alegre Hollywood, California Randy Remote wrote: > mike pritchard wrote: > > > Thirdly, and here's the real Joni content, it says that on Aug 6th there is a > > concert in Los Angeles with the LA Phil and that Joni will sing one song (no > > mention of which it will be). (njc) Well everything is finally completed...Your very own Jeff Bisch just finished the graphic design and layout and he did an incredible, superb job I must say! Whoohoo!!! I expect to be able to send those out the first week of June. I started working on this back in October...it feels really good to be one month away from the finished product. According to Ticketmaster, the show is not yet on sale, but a few of us are planning to go. Rick has season box seats, the lucky boy, so he is in! TM says the "Hollywood Bowl Orchestra" will be playing with Wayne. I think it is made up of a lot of LA Phil musicians, however. I thought Herbie Hancock was supposed to be joining them, too. I can't believe Wayne is 70, either! He looks so young - I think playing music has that effect on many performers. Hope Joni sings more than one tune and doesn't wear Miyake ;-) Kakki ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 05 May 2003 02:19:25 -0400 From: ljirvin@jmdl.com Subject: Today in History: May 5 1979: Joni, Jane Fonda, Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, John Hall, Dan Fogelberg, John Sebastian and others appeared in Washington DC at a "No-Nukes" rally.
