I held back on having single rooms available because SO many people said they were going to come to this year's Fest, and I wanted to make sure everyone had a bed. At this point, there are only a few months left to go for Jonifest and I still need 25 people to meet the MINIMUM requirement for the contract I signed. I have to tell you, I am getting EXTREMELY nervous at the thought of being out over $7500 of my own money. If you are sitting on the fence or procrastinating in any way, I urge you to please sign up as soon as possible. If all the wonderful testimonials that have shown up on this list in the past several days aren't enough to get you motivated, go to: www.jonifest.com and check out the past Jonifests. I'm sure Mack, and Vince, will know the version I mean. Can't beat Janis that's for sure Mike. I have listened to that line at least an innumerable amount of times. Gave it great thought-when happy, when sad, when torpid, when heartbroken. Same conclusion each time. No way. Though I might reminisce sentimentally at times I wouldn't give up today or tomorrow for anyone or anything. Still foolish enough to believe that the ship is still coming and might dock this afternoon. I'm not an computer expert, but if your computer has a CD burner, they usually come with software-which you need to tell your burner what to do. Look through your programs-Adaptec Easy CD is a common one. If you find it, experiment and see if you can get it working. If you don't have software, you can probably find something on the net somewhere. "We Had A Fest" (to the tune of "I Had A King") by Bob Muller We had a fest at the Full Moon near Bethel, Playing & singing & channeling Ethel just swell And randomly raising hell The food was sublime, don't you know And the time there was oh so great! The rooms were the best, but for most of the fest We stayed up way too late And now it's time to plan again, We gotta go, no matter when So make your plans and make them soon For the Full Moon, for the Full Moon We'll have a fest in the Catskills near Woodstock Going to workshops and listening to good rock & roll And jamming to folk & soul If nature you like, you can go for a hike Just please don't feed the bears! Or swim in the pool, if you want to 'be cool' Or relax, with no cares... And we'll go back there every year To feast and sing and share good cheer The fests are great, They really rate, Don't hesitate!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://lrfye.lunarpages.com/rocknrollin.html ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Apr 2003 03:58:49 +0200 From: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Emiliano_Pati=F1o?= Subject: dirty words NJC Hey, Good Night! I know it's been years days since thi thread appeared, but I think it's a great NJC matter, don't you? I don't know if in North America, cradle of so many and very good researchs for humanity, are you tired by now of Politically Correct Language. I assume it went to extremes very hard to endure (and keeping mind sane, free of violent desires), and also, regarding positive discrimination... we're introducing difficult questions... that of course we must discuss to soothe unbalanced social situations etc (none of us wanting to discuss it now) The fact is that in my country at least they are some people who pridely states: "I'm not politically correct": I frankly disregard that attitude (as I do men using short pants, BTW-and seeing some Jonifest photos) I digress, as always. Let me say: As you should know, Coqo (it should appear Cono with a jot over the n) is the usual 4 letter word for the v of OVA then, "Coqazo" (cognazo) means unbereable, boring, etc "coqa" (cogna): some not-serious thing, a joke (specially when someone tells at you "estas de coqa" meaning that you're not serious when you should be) Conacha or Perracha is an even dirtier word for V "conachada" (perrachada, too) is something absolutely despiseful "conacho" (or perracho): a guy irrelevant and not worthy of confiance... Cojones means "balls" (as hear in "the Milagro beanfield war", that *great* 'n underestimated movie) so naturally "cojonudo" means worthy of attention, specially some unexpected good... that state of things could go on and on (I feel english tired by now, could Mike or Gillian would consider help me?, if you feel interested) Well, thanks for your attention, Good Nights and Days will await ever for all of us! !Seguid Siempre Sonriendo! BTW "cojones" has become almost mainstream in the US, though it is not considered a "hard" swearword. (I know, I know).... Political correctness? I would say it is still present as far as language goes, but there are certainly many talk show hosts who seem to flaunt either their redneckedness (Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Dennis Miller) or their sexist vulgarity (Howard Stern or any number of 'morning drive' hosts). I don't know, the media right now is SOOO surreal...there is now a Diet Pepsi commercial that has a band singing the word "masturbation". The network news varies from mild to rabid cheerleading for the war. On 'reality' shows, contestants are made to eat pig anuses, worms, brain soup and the like, or total strangers get married based on viewers votes. You probably think I'm kidding, but it's fucking nuts over here. I will file your post for future reference. Hey, Good Night... I brought it with me to my recent piano lesson and asked Colleen, my teacher, for advice on playing it (wishful thinking... hah!) We found that a D in the left hand is mistakenly not marked as a sharp (twice)- we eventually figured out where the error was- in the piano solo after "...loving your touch") so she penciled it in. It's obvious that there is a mistake in the transcription 'cause at the same time that the left hand D is played, the right hand is playing a D sharp. She kept playing that part and we both knew that something was wrong (it just didn't sound right.) At first, she thought she was playing it wrong since she's never played it before and was reading it for the first time. But I heard it too and, since I know the song so well, I said "it sounds like your right hand is good but there's something wrong in the left." Am I observant or what?! I thought it might be of interest to others who might want to learn this song. Has anyone else noticed this error?
