I recommend "buckaroo" instead of "f**ker" (one I had to learn in driver's ed), "jerk" instead of "@$$" or "b***h," "monster trucker" instead of "mother f**ker." Also, when I was in middle school, sometimes I'd get the temptation to say "Oh, f**k" in front of my parents. I'd often catch myself in mid-word and try to change it to "oh, poop." However, it often ended up coming out as "oh, foop." Sometimes I got even farther into the bad word and said "oh, fup." My dad had a hell of a time trying to figure out what a foop was. I also wanted to ask, what year did SNL do the Vincent Price bisexuality sketch, and who was in it? - -Emily ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Apr 2003 10:46:30 -0500 From: "Emily Griskavich" Subject: Altering Swear Words, and Pit and Pendulum njc Dear Everyone, I'm trying to limit my profane vocabulary because I'm starting student teaching next semester. It's called "Joni Mitchell - Her life, Her loves, Her music" by Leonore Fleischer, published by Flashbooks. Picked it up for $2.00. The cover on the front is a beautiful photo of Joni I've never seen before. There's even a little red rose on the top corner. Mostly what I like about it is the photos through out the book- a really nice collection. Also picked up a nice framed photo with Joni performing, her image superimposed over another shot of the whole band. I was already having a good day but this definately pushed it over into wonderful... Vincent Price (Dan Ackroyd) showed up and tried to seduce Frankie, and the whole sketch ended with everyone singing "Obie Wan Kanobi" ala the beach Boys. It was 77 or 78. On the sleeve notes of a 1993 re-release of "Crosby, Stills and Nash", Raymond Foye wrote: >>>>>>>> From its hypnotic opening notes, David Crosby's "Guinnevere" creates a space unlike any other in rock music. "When all my friends were listening to Elvis Presley, I was listening to 1950s West Coast jazz," Crosby notes. Later, Crosby's divergent musical sensibility was further inspired by a close association with Joni Mitchell, whose unusual repertoire of guitar tunings heightened his increasingly oblique musical sense, taking him another step away from standard rock formulas. Fellow musician Joel Bernstein recalls that for Crosby, "the discovery of non-standard tunings was the opening the little door in 'Alice in Wonderland'." By literally rearranging the tones on his guitar (the tuning is EBDGAD), Crosby tapped into a creative well-spring that produced "Deja Vu" and "Song With No Words," within a very short space of time.>>>>>>>> checking in from the NJC digest, Lama Details? What's the word for "golden?" Would "Golden Eggs" be something like "Ova Ora" OK, so after 5 LONG years of Latin, I guess I'm as close to a scholar as one would ever want to be... ovum is the nominative singular of the word for egg. The nominative plural is ova. aureus is the word for golden- the adjective always agrees with the noun it describes. So I guess golden eggs would be "ova aurea" One golden egg would be "ovum aureum" So, what about Easter eggs, chocolate eggs, or painted eggs?
