It's not really a unique or weird shade, so I've never known why Joni describes it as Exxon Blue. I like your thought about the blue flame, it corresponds to radiation rose, I think. So, delete now if you are ready to pull your hair out with the butchering of Joni's lyrics, but here they are from "Hissing": Heard: "With his head full of pool hall pictures" Actual: "With his head full of pool hall pitches" From: In France They Kiss on Main Street (We already talked about Liquid Melvin. I *know* she sings Liquid Melvin. I just *know* it!!!) DO NOT encourage me any further! If it wasn't for this (dead) thread of mondegreens and e-mails of encouragement, I wouldn't even *be* looking in that damn book (The Complete Poems and Lyrics) and I would *still* be blissfully innocent and thinking that Italians are paper minded males! {sigh} Hugs, Modegreen Maven Millie (name changed to protect the innocent) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2003 01:29:47 -0400 From: "PAUL PETERSON" Subject: Response to Colin re: chldhood sexuality NJC Colin wrote: > this is ignorant crap!!!! You see, you are making my point. How can you deny the sexual pleasure that a five year old experiences? It's been a clinical fact for a hundred years now. And yet it is precisely this denial that is at the root of most of the sexual dysfunction in our culture. And I re-assert that the power of the exploitative predatory adult is for the most part fueled by children's consciousness of their parents' and society's disapproval of their sexuality. The atmosphere of hysteria which currently surrounds this issue is not helping to lessen incidents of sexual abuse. I would say it actually prevents the situation from being resolved. The prurient television and newspaper accounts of these incidents border on soft core porn. Our puritan culture has a long history of getting off sexually while wagging our fingers in disapproval at the same time. I also don't believe that such abuse is on the rise. What's on the rise is the media's lascivious fascination with it. Saying things like "No wonder our children are not safe" just adds to the hysteria without actually making children any safer. As a single gay man, I find it tragic that in the last few years I have had to refrain from friendly contact with children while in public places out of fear that my friendliness will be misinterpreted. The fact that adults are only too willing to instill a fear of sexual predators in their children but are at the same time terrified of discussing and promoting the true joy of human sexuality is what makes me despair of our society. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2003 02:07:03 -0400 From: ljirvin@jmdl.com Subject: Today's Library Links: April 13 On April 13 the following item was published: 2000: "Q&A" - Rolling Stone (Interview) http://www.jmdl.com/articles/view.cfm?id=593 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2003 00:34:36 -0600 From: Rob Procyk & Tracy Tolley Subject: rosanne cash njc Hey Lovely Listas, I haven't been able to catch the list for WEEKS due to a bizarre glitch in my email (long story, but think it's fixed now, and if you sent anything to my home addy lately, chances are I didn't see it), so I've missed ALL the war posts. However, on a totally different topic, I do want to ask if anyone else on the list is as in love with the new Rosanne Cash album as I am... damn it's good. If anyone comes across a used "Interiors", let me know - I'll buy it from you. So anyway, anyone else into Rosanne (no Jimmy, not Roseanne Barr Arnold Whatever-the-hell she is called now - I know you secretly fantasize about her sexually, but let it go, my brother). It was at the Cole Field House on the University of Maryland campus. My guess is this is the incident she describes below.
