However, some of Joni's musical nuances were lost in this cabaret treatment, (to my dismay), but it was what it was. Some of the songs really surprised us- my favorite being BYT with a do-wop feel and intriguing, alluring harmonies! It was also nice to see a man do some of Joni's tunes (okay, he WAS gay, but so? lol) The women did have very nice voices, Allison doing a spectacular rendition of (one of my fav songs of all time) Two Grey Rooms. (The pianist's arrangement needed work...) So great to see Susan and Kerry again and to finally meet Jack Merkel! (Vince, you missed it, buddy!) Susan, anytime you throw another minifest, I'm there! Also, I noticed in Refuge of the Roads on T'Log, the line "I'll shine on your witness taking refuge IN the roads" replaced the original "Shine on your witness in the refuge OF the roads". (there was nothing huge about the facts of what i told her - just about my emotional involvement with it....) there were countless similar incidents. id tell her about something about something precious to me. and shed treat it like garbage. so guess what - i just stopped talking. then she started nagging me to talk. constantly. just like joni :-) nagging a man to talk aint gonna work. not ever. odds are youll just drive him away. creating an atmosphere of trust probably will work in most cases. let him know he can trust you with his secrets. let him know youll treasure them no matter how stupid they may seem to you. and where those secrets may hurt you - well i dont know - deal with it maturely & respectfully. harshing on him for what he says & then just nagging about talking will just drive him away so much quicker. one of the reasons i love this group is that i can talk on it - and find people who connect with what i say. and people i dont connect with who still treat what i say with respect. thats a rare thing to find... ron ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2003 02:29:14 -0500 From: ljirvin@jmdl.com Subject: Today's Library Links: March 16 On March 16 the following item was published: 2002: "Renaming auditorium not a great idea" - Saskatoon StarPhoenix (Opinion) http://www.jmdl.com/articles/view.cfm?id=759 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Mar 2003 23:46:10 -0800 From: "kakki" Subject: Re: Today's Library Links: March 16 Oooo!! Trippy! Every time I've ever heard "Last night the ghosts of my old ideals re-ran on channel 5", I picture Joni, bored in some Southwest hotel room on her trip back to the coast, flipping through the tv dial and when she hit channel 5 she ran into a James Dean pic, either Giant or Rebel Without A Cause.
