One of my favourite female singers talking about her work, sininging live , her paintings etc. This one trained as a dancer, acts, covers a wide spectrum of musical traditions that makes her unclassifiable. She has long blonde hair (well its got dye in it but nobody is perfect) and sometimes has political rantings and outbusrts. The name of this dvd? The Thousand and one lives of Ute Lemper. She is fab. Anyone else agree? I have one of her CDs, "Punishing Kiss" . I agree she is very talented & want to get more of her stuff. Didn't know anything else about her though, so thanks for the details. - --- Gordon Mackie wrote: > Im just back from Barthelona (thanks to WtS for the > phonetics) > clutching a new dvd gem.. well new to me but its > been out for 2 > years) . She is considered the leading interpreter of Kurt Weill songs. A wonderful, unique singer. I wish i could say that i'm sending this in from the fest, but no, i'm at home in gloomy Dublin. I was just on the phone to Chris Marshall, and he is indeed kicking up his heels at the fest:) By all accounts it sounds like we are **already** missing out on a great weekend. Chris tells me the location is utterly superb; glorious mountainous scenery. The staff in teh centre couldn't be nicer and more helpful, they seem to be falling over themselves to make everything run smoothly (i have always wanted to say that!) The food is great and the beds are very good. Chris also reported numerous sightings of list members having a lot of fun; to be honest that is quite surprising, we all know how miserable Joni fans tend to be;~) Apparently Ashara, the birthday girl, is living up to her party girl reputation:-) There is a lot more news that we have to wait for (!!), but the question on all their lips is "WHY THE HELL ISN'T EVERYONE ELSE HERE?" It all sounds very romantic. GARRET np- Charlatans, North Country Boy (i'm going to a music festival tomorrow with Charlatans, Counting Crows, and quite a few others. Should be good. Still wish I was at the fest) ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2002 #332 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
