Is this true? I am a big fan of Brenda Russell. She has been signed to Hidden Beach Recordings, Jill Scott's label and I am so glad that she is still doing her thing as an Artist. I may have missed the earlier post, but can someone tell me what exactly the connection is between her and Joni at this point? Kakki, have you ever gone to Santa Monica to hear her perform? I would love to hear about it if you have. Again, I may have missed a post or two, but if you don't mind, I'd love to hear about it again! You know I'm kind of kicking myself now that I haven't gone to see her more often. She's performed a lot in L.A. in recent years and I should have made the effort to get over to see her more. In my dim memory I recall seeing her at a songwriters showcase at Rusty's back in maybe '96 or '97 and she has an amazing presence. O.K. Sherelle, now when you come out to L.A., she's another one I'm going to take you around to see!! ;-) And Sherelle, I am just ecstatic that you will be going to Jonifest! Clark and I met up to see him at McCabe's a few years ago. McCabe's is very tiny - a music store with a small performance area in the back. While I waiting for Clark looking through the sheet music I looked up and there he was! He's gorgeous, gorgeous in every way. I bought his latest CD that night and he gave me a flirty look and asked if I wanted him to sign it. Ah, yeah! ;-) The show was incredible. I just wish Joni would have jumped in the car and come over that night! They another me too. the trocks got a little weak in the early '90s but the companies been in fantastic shape the last couple of times i've seen them. thing is, those big hairy guys on pointe can do that shit! just falling all over the place, it wouldn't be funny but it's that they know ballet, love it, so they can tease it. terrific. patrick np - lou harrison - the open road - eos ensemble ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 May 2002 23:43:15 -0700 From: "Victor Johnson" Subject: RE: No More Drama NJC > No more drama. I am going to happy and flow with the music. And think > about how much I love the JMDL. > Since I've moved to Asheville, this has been the philosophy I have wholeheartedly adopted...no more drama....I left it all behind in Georgia...I have nothing to say regarding any of this current online melodrama...it's almost as if it doesn't even exist to me...I need only blow like the wind and my breath blows it far away out of existence...blowing... and blowing...and blowing....and blowing...ahhhh, silence is golden and music is divine. Mine arrived today, 75 minutes, photography's great, the crowd and band shots are so clear. Fine sound. Total cost was U$35 ($6 for very fast registered mail). Took about 10 days altogether. From someone called "Musicculture" in Singapore--great service. I'm actually surprised she didn't use it on BSN because it goes along with that whole stages of a romance theme. I hope it shows up on the new orchestral CD because both of the previous arrangements left something to be desired. ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2002 #206 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
