Sometimes it's hard for me to listen to her, though, because my voice sometimes does the 'goat dance' the way hers does... and... so when I record vocals I tend to add too much reverb and chorus, which makes the vocals muddy kind of like that VG-8 sound Joni seems to like. Oh, here we go, dissing Street Angel again! I'm kind of kidding, I know quite a few Stevie fans don't like it, but I love it! I agree with you on Shangri-La, though - a wonderful album. She has recorded a few songs that she shouldn't have, over the years (name someone that hasn't!), but she's still one of my favourite artists. Music is so subjective though, as others have already mentioned. This is one of my pet peeves. In my opinion, NO ONE has "bad" taste in music - there's no such thing. There's just different tastes. What sounds good to some people, will sound bad to others. And that's not about how "good" an artist is - that's a different subject altogether. Interesting that you choose Neil Young for your parody - an artist still performing, and only 3 years younger than Mick Fleetwood! I guess as long as John McVie and Mick Fleetwood are there, then it's Fleetwood Mac, no matter who else is in the band. They have had a lot of iterations over the years, but they've all worked, even though the "sound" of the band may change. But maybe that's what keeps them going, that whole "variety is the spice of life" thing! The first disc features singles and album tracks chosen by fans during Smith's last club tour and via the Internet. Disc Two includes previously unreleased demo and alternate takes, live tracks, poetry and a recording of Prince's "When Doves Cry." Novelist/journalist/philosopher Susan Sontag will pen the liner notes for the compilation, and the accompanying thirty-six-page booklet features notes, original lyrics, artwork, drawings and previously unavailable photos. Additional previously unavailable material from Smith's career will be featured on her Web site, www.pattismithland.com, which will launch in March. Around the release, Smith will kick off a national tour with her band, which also features Lenny Kaye, Oliver Ray, Tony Shanahan and Jay Dee Daugherty. LOL - As you know Sandra performed at Don Henley's Walden Woods benefit '98 along with Joni and Stevie among others. Larry Klein was the musical director and Joni was poised somewhat as the star of the show, being the closer and all. Joni got the second biggest applause and standing ovations - Stevie brought down the house. I lucked into a good seat that night, right in front of Mick Fleetwood and Lindsay Buckingham. Believe me, Mick looked the youngest and heartiest of the group! > I never got into the pre-Buckingham Nicks Fleetwood Mac much so I don't know > that much about that phase of the band. I'd wager that you have heard the early Fleetwood Mac bit maybe didn't know it was them. Their songs in the early 70s were pretty big and well-played among the college crowds. The consecutive "Future Games," "Bare Trees" and "Mystery to Me" albums were incredible. Moody, bluesy, jazzy and a little psychedelic. To me, however, they sound nothing like the Buckingham Nicks FM. It's like two different bands in sound. Many of the early sings were written/performed by Peter Green and Bob Welch who departed the band before B-N. B-N revitalized the band but it metamorphized into something new. > But I always liked Stevie's voice & songs from the Lindsey/Stevie years better than anyone else's in the group. > (There were a few of Christine's that I liked almost as much but overall I > thought Stevie's writing was more interesting.)
