Jim does an excellent job in telling the tale. The group of us that were there were beside ourselves afterward...taking it all in...shaking our heads in disbelief .. 'did this really happen'... that kind of thing. It was wonderful to see how much Joni is loved, admired, adored. That was obvious on this evening filled with magic and surprises of the Joni kind. For all the negative things that have been said about Joni, it is my hope that she was able to take in all of the love everyone felt for her in those precious moments. Bree..you mentioned that you saw Joni in 75? Tell us about that. Where? What tour? What was the venue? Small.. or large? I would love to hear your Joni stories. Thank you for your kind words about honey boi Brei and I. 'This' began because of our deep love for Joni and we grew from there. We have so much support from our Joni family which helps so much. We are forever grateful for the kindness of everyone who surrounds us here. He has now become a part of the VG-8 INNER CIRCLE. Yippie!!!!!!!!!! It will be so cool at the next fest when we have the VG-8 Jam Band. I also sent off one to John Kelly last week, so our little (but powerful) community is growing. Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Bern and I had a great time playing with the guitars and last night we went to a party and had lots of fun playing music and eating and drinking. What else is there??? Don't know what the thread of the debate has been, but CMIAR is probably my favorite JM album, these days, at least. I carried it a couple of times while hiking the Appalachian Trail - would lie in the open at night and stare up through the trees, with it playing on the headphones. Magical. Played "Cool Water" for my brother one morning as we were making breakfast in camp. Blew him away... Let's meet halfway and eat the whole box! We can have a chocolate mini Joni fest! You can come too, Paz. I'll pick you up at Logan on my way to Ashara's. My grandmother and aunts all make incredible homemade candy and I have a great-uncle who has a candy factory in Pennsylvania - my mother begs for their candies every Christmas and sends them the SEE's ;-) >Also, when I use to work out there and visit.... I think SoCal historically has had more transplants because of the many job industries that sprang up here (plus a lot were drawn to the sun, surf and tinseltown allure ;-) Thanks to Mark for looking up the lines in the Lauren bio - I read that one without stopping when it first came out - loved it! LOTC was brimming with brillant piano, it is one of my favorites because of that. i beleive it was on LOTC that she really began using it extensively. the first time i ever saw joni on t.v. she was playing the piano. ( i think it was on ed sullivan or perhaps it was the smothers brothers, my memory is a bit fuzzy...it may have been both, she was also on the johnny cash show around the same time. ) i was so thrilled to see her on t.v., at the time it was almost like seeing her in person. oh well... it is late and i,m tired, more later warren keith ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Dec 2001 22:05:55 -0800 From: "Kate Bennett" Subject: Sting in Tuscany I was able to watch the last 2/3 of this concert & its being replayed on Dec 22 on A&E. I remember reading that Joni loved the Police & I imagine that Sting must have great respect for Joni. They've been making and selling chocolates in this small shop since 1885 - I swear you can gain five pounds just by opening the door and smelling the air. Dark, semi-sweet chocolate, of course ;-) If this isn't an inducement for y'all to visit us here in Victoria, I don't know what could be. Other than meeting me, of course.... Wishing the best of the season to everybody, Roberto ps. I think there's a See's Candies in Portland, Ore. I was directed to it when I first visited Portland in the 80s, and was not disappointed! I'm happy to be spending my Christmas and New Years holiday there and in Boston. Visiting these cities was only a dream before I joined the JMDL: now, this will be my sixth trip to NYC and my fifth to Boston. I'm looking forward to spending some wonderful hours with my JMDL buddies like Kay Ashley, Patrick Leader, Ric Welch, Chuck Eisenhardt, Barbara Hindley, Heather Galli and anyone else who's reading this and wants to get together with this misplaced - but somehow not - Canuck. I don't want to get schmaltzy on y'all, but the great gift of the JMDL for me has been the meeting of friends rather than the discussion of Joni (cool though that's been as well). Much love, big hugs, and very best wishes to us all for a peaceful and wonderful holiday season, Roberto _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Dec 2001 04:12:02 -0300 From: "Wally Kairuz" Subject: december 17!!!! njc garret garret garret H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y ! ! ! the birthday fairy, fighting mosquitoes! ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2001 #598 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
