BUt Ok people, Mark is the winner: Louis Bromfield was the answer. SO don't send anymore guesses. LOL BUT......since Paul was a second behind and Mack was a second behind him and Murphy is so damn funny and Steve you were the first with the wrong answer. You all win a box of chocolates, but no silver piece. Santa is very generous this year. (it doesn't hurt to know people either) Send me your addresses off-list and I'll will send the prizes out on Monday the 17th. It is quite beautiful. And is a working farm;the state OF Ohio runs it and gives tours. It's pretty neat to see where Lauren Bacall walked down the staircase and know that Bogie was waiting for her at the bottom. (I spent some time there because a friend of mine worked there) Bree PS. It's been a long time since I had this much fun on a Saturday night. Thanks guys! Proves you don't have to be out partying and drinking and the like. ;-) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Dec 2001 21:12:02 EST From: TimandMaryPowers@aol.com Subject: Humor NJC the true nature of science...revealed here for the first time EVER on the Joni listserv (as far as I know) The Course of Science: http://www.math.tu-berlin.de/~haase/MISC/courseOfScience.html Yes, I majored in physics, worked in environmental science, and know all too much about psychology. I agree with your choices, Warren, but I'd have to add Hissing of Summer Lawns and Don Juan's reckless daughter to the list - HOSL is so wonderfully creepy and dry, DJRD is so sparkling and strange and different to anything else by anyone else. Both albums sound so complete (as Joni says HOSL was conceived), and even the couple of tracks on DJRD that were written earlier in her career (Jericho and Dreamland, right?) fit in seamlessly IMO. Interestingly, I don't think the same can be said of Little Green on Blue - I remember it standing out to me for ages, before I found out it wasx actually and older song. Others will disagree Im sure! John - Yes! The 3GS is a brilliant melody, a lot of which is lost on some people because of the production. Shame. I love to sit down at the piano and play/sing this song, I wish an acoustic version was available :( Owen p.s I asked this a while ago, but does anyone have the DVD of Both Sides Now? I'm thinking of buying it, would like someones opinion... :) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Dec 2001 20:34:15 -0600 From: "Mary E. When do I leave??! ;-) In all seriousness, this obviously has a lot to do with what one is used to. Personally, I'd take winter in LA in a heartbeat, but, despite what I wrote about Wisconsin being the epitome of All Things Cold, I'd give a definite "pass" to, say, Fortuna, ND. Thanks for sharing what you know. Pat Boone cracked me up because I saw video of him singing and he was snapping on beats 1 and 3 and acting suave, however, the emphasis was on beats 2 and 4...lol. No comparison with with Fats at all! Actually what you were saying we talked about in class and that is what lead me to my question, was this the 1st time someone redoing someone else's song is refered to as a cover...basically is it a race related term? My professor didn't know. Love Nikki np: Claudia~ Conversation (fest '01) "Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight. You've got to kick at the darkness til it bleeds daylight." She plays it solo on acoustic guitar in an NPR interview, and she plays it on guitar with Klein on piano on the "Rock Master Class" 1985 program.
