Hi Pearl! Julius had just informed us. Hi Julius! I just finished watching it. First song was Find the Cost of Freedom. They're second song was a song that Nash had written, "Send Me Half Your Angels" (I think) after the Oklahoma bombing. Very fitting indeed. Beautiful, sad, but healing. "What I am Doing On My SummerVacation" Ashara, This is great! What a comfortable looking and beautiful place! I like that it's a non-holiday weekend and that you've let us know so far in advance. Aahh, look at all that lush greenery. I say YES to this! Will send you answers to your questions privately, probably tomorrow when I've had a chance to look at the pictures again. Thank you Ashara. This is a wonderful thing you've done. Joni has control over her packages and her publishing and there is no way that Warner could have given someone rights to repackage the masters without her approval. Don't buy this crap. Thanks Rose, I just read on the CSN list that they also did sing "My Country Tis Of Thee" to a Michael Hedges guitar track. I'll try to tape it, but have not been having much luck with taping on my VCR lately ;-( Kakki > Hi Pearl! Julius had just informed us. Hi Julius! I just finished watching > it. And given recent lawsuits and pending anti-trust action being pursued against them it may or may not have been a wise decision. However, in light of everything else they have done, this move was bound to be seen as controversial. I also think that CC is reacting to the backlash Howard Stern got for his post-9/11show which was nothing short of appalling. What's more interesting than the randomness of some of the selections is the exclusion of all Rage Against the Machine, particularly since the Rage message board was taken down by Infopop after there was some federal investigation of posts which contained "violent threats." News at 11 on this one. If you are speaking of unintended financial support then our government is just as guilty. Almost 4 months ago we sent $43 million to the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan for the war on drugs. http://www.robertscheer.com/1_natcolumn/01_columns/052201.htm ******************************************** Kate Bennett www.katebennett.com sponsored by Polysonics www.polysonics.com Discover the Indies at Taylor Guitars: http://www.taylorguitars.com/artists/awp/indies/bennett.html ******************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Sep 2001 23:05:23 -0700 From: "Kate Bennett" Subject: Subject: thoughts njc BintheB wrote "Is it fair to say that from this day forward I will never be able to look at a young muslim man and not think that he was sent here to kill me because I am American? Maybe it is and maybe it isn't, but that prejudice is now instilled in me and will never go away." This would be like looking at every young white man & thinking that he was going to blow up the building where you work (Oklahoma City). It is madness to let yourself think this way. We went to a beautiful candle ceremony tonight. Our congresswoman & representative were there & several nonprofits working worldwide & locally to promote world peace, tolerance & social justice. Many citizens got up to speak, sing, share their thoughts. Many children got up & spoke. One Muslim man spoke so beautifully about how he & his fellow Muslims were as horrified as any other citizen about this horrific event. A very sweet & gentle man. He said many more from the Muslim community wanted to attend the ceremony but were advised by the police to stay home because there was some violence that occured here last night. Please please please please please. Do not let the actions of a few extreme madmen instill you with fear of other Muslims. They are hurting deeply just like us. ******************************************** Kate Bennett www.katebennett.com sponsored by Polysonics www.polysonics.com Discover the Indies at Taylor Guitars: http://www.taylorguitars.com/artists/awp/indies/bennett.html ******************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Sep 2001 23:38:06 -0700 From: Richard Goldman Subject: "Refuge of the Roads" question What do people know about the laser disc/video made after "Wild Things Run Fast", with Joni, called "Refuge of the Roads" ? It seems that 'the jury' is back, Thanks to Deb Messling's post I have visited the 'debunking' web site referenced below and it seems clear that this rumour has been exposed as a fake. http://www.snopes2.com/inboxer/outrage/cnn.htm Consequently I apologise for spreading this rumour without checking its veracity more closely and as a result causing more people to take it as true (I thought three differently worded versions in three different languages would be enough!). How sad that these days one has to go to a web site to check information that even friends swear to you is true. It's sad but every time more necessary. If we care about truth, and I'm sure all of us here do, then we must all be more careful. All I can say in my favour is that I let my enthusiasm (some may say my prejudice, I know) get the better of my judgment.
