I pick Paz up at the airport tomorrow morning and then Bob will arrive from Greenville sometime thereafter. A little music, some grilling, and then off to see Yes. I've got a great new pad in Athens which I haven't posted about yet but I've got to at some point because it's just so cool. And jonifest is only two weeks away. I just can't wait. I feel so thankful to know so many wonderful people. The last time I saw them was at the House of Blues here in New Orleans on Jon Anderson's birthday. It was a great show in a small intimate venue. We had VIP seats in the second row balcony just a few places over from Jon's wife. I went oveer during a break and gave her a copy of Beth Patterson's CD (my pal bazouki player) to give to Jon for his birthday. I am glad you are giving them a second chance. Check out these songs in your husbands collection: From the album Going For The One-Turn of The Century and Awaken (prob my fave of all time Yes stuff), From Tormato- Onward, On the Silent Wings of Freedom, from Relayer-Soon. If you like those I will give you more. Notice that they are all slow ballad type stuff which of course I am crazy for. (NJC) Sorry for the totally NJC content, but can any of our California list members point me toward resources for full-time moms re-entering the workforce after 10+ years? Resources for child care assistance would be helpful, too. Thanks so much. Peace, Lori in DC ~ Make international calls for as low as $0.04/minute with Yahoo! Shane, I beg to differ, I think "Sweet Sucker Dance" is one of Joni's masterworks. She's just beginning to display the jazz prowess which was soon to come to fruition. I love the subtle interplay btwn her, Jaco, Herbie, and Wayne. Thanks Dave F. 'My Man' has got to be one of the worst. But I like those songs. So somebody 'splain that to me, please! Wally - thank you for the birthday wishes - I haven't turned here yet but I guess I'm already 19 in Argentina ;-) I was doing some pre-partying tonight and was so surprised to receive in the mail this week some birthday wishes, a martini glass from the Experience Music museum, some incredible Marshall Crenshaw bootlegs and a silver martini pin from some of my list friends! Wow! I love you guys! Re Jimmy Webb - Patrick - thanks for setting the story straight - I'd heard she'd broken his heart but maybe forgot that the affair was unrequited. I'm still scratching my head a little because, ahem, he was fairly newlywed around that time. Ah well, it's still a brilliant song ;-) I can also see where Brian finds him schmaltzy. I get that sometimes from him, too, but he has a genius, at least to me, of being able to pull up on it at the last minute before it goes over the edge. I loved his collaboration with Carly on Film Noir, although I know it's not every Carly fan's cup of tea. I'm just a sucker for those old songs. I love Funny Valentine, too, for that matter. Mark E - I don't think I've heard Monheit's Waters of March, but I love that song, too, and love her voice. I will have to check it out. Your fantastic post of the experience with RLJ completely seeped right through my monitor and I think you've converted me, too, now! When you get it, you really get it, and you really know how to convey it. Paz, Victor and Bob - I know you will have a wonderful time at the Yes concert and wish we could all be there with you! Kakki - off for a long B-day weekend ;-) ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2001 #354 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
