We were also told not to read Stephen King and other such novels because these books were possessed by demons and we would be 'infected' by them. We were constantly warned about demon possesion and I was always told I was in particular danger from them. So when i flipped, shaved my head fully expecting to see 666 tattooed on it, and truly believed I was attacked by demons what did they do? Did they pray for me? Did they keep me in the Kingdom Hall and keep me safe? no of course not. Their beliefs went out the window and they called an ambulance instead! Before these people, I had RC nuns telling me I would more thsan likely go to hell but I may get to Limbo if I was really good. Heaven was out for me as my father was a 'heathen', ie. not a RC. They got the word wrong-he's an utter bastard but then the nuns were creeps anyway so wouldn't have noticed that. then the BA's-well just as cruel and nutty and hypocritical as the JW's and RC's. I wonder why i have no time for religion now! (and no I am not an athiest). I think religion should be banned from shcools and children until they are old enought o understand and make up their own minds. bw colin ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Aug 2001 01:34:22 -0700 From: "Kate Bennett" Subject: RE: Joni's Satanic Influences NJC oh i know you are a very spiritual man colin...religion has little to do with true spirituality...you have certainly been through a lot in your lifetime... ******************************************** Kate Bennett www.katebennett.com sponsored by Polysonics www.polysonics.com Discover the Indies at Taylor Guitars: http://www.taylorguitars.com/artists/awp/indies/bennett.html ******************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Aug 2001 11:11:46 +0100 (GMT Daylight Time) From: "colin" Subject: RE: Joni's Satanic Influences NJC - -------Original Message------- From: Kate Bennett Date: 04 August 2001 09:55:09 To: colin Cc: Joni@Smoe. People who respond to these requests can get stuck with whopping phone bills for international call. This information is basically true. The email warnings originated from an article published several years ago in "Internet ScamBusters," a respectable newsletter that keeps subscribers apprised of current frauds and scams. A more recent AT&T publication confirms that the scam is real and still active. Multiple versions of the email exist because people can and do alter such texts before forwarding them on, which means any specific message you receive may or may not contain accurate details. For that reason, recipients are best advised not to forward the email warnings, but rather share the URL of this updated article from the original source: http://www.scambusters.org/809Scam.html UPDATE: Why was this 1996 alert revived years later? hi there. name's wild koba, and i'm new to y'all. just thought i'd pop in to ask a quick question. i first discovered joni on july 1, 1999. as some of you may recall, this was the night of the joni's jazz tribute in central park. i was really there to go see vernon reid, who is more or less my guitar hero. i was totally blown away (specifically, toshi reagon absolutely LEVELED me) and have since made it a point to discover joni albums on my own. i think thus far, i'm digging the "jazz joni" a bit more than the "other kinds of joni." anyhow, what i'd like to know is if anyone here happens to have in their possession a copy of tapes or discs from that night. i spoke to vernon not long afterwards, and he said there WAS something out there, and i've been curious ever since. should someone here have it (or know how i could find it), i would thank you, spank you, love you, and name my first children in your honor. slightly more seriously, i would really like to know how to come across this. i don't have much to offer in terms of trading, but perhaps we can come to some sort of agreement. thanks for your time, and hopefully i'm lucky in my quest. cheers, wild koba ps- any other vernon reid fans in the nyc area may be tempted to go check out living colour, who will be playing on the very stage where the "jazz" tribute was held. this is tomorrow, august 5th, in the afternoon, i believe. ****************************************************************** david y. kobayashi www.wildkoba.com "melody walks through the door, and memory flies out the window." -k. moore ****************************************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Aug 2001 19:07:37 EDT From: RoseMJoy@aol.com Subject: Re: joni's jazz??
