I hope that helps in your search. I went into the JMDL chat room for the first time and had fun talking with Bob (the smurf) Murphy, Nikki, and Stephen. WARNING! It can be addictive:~) The most pleasant surprise tonight was when Colin called me. (I think he's making a trip around the world via phone .....folks in California, you're next). Anyway, Colin you are as warm, funny and sincere as your posts and emails always are. It was such a pleasure to talk to you on the phone and I can't thank you enough for calling. I urge any of you cyber JMDL friends to pick up the phone and call one another once in awhile. It is truly special! Better yet, try to attend one of the upcoming fests. When do we start making reservations hmmmmm ? :) In a great mood, Jimmy ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Mar 2001 00:20:39 EST From: BMBSPIRIT@cs.com Subject: Re: JMDL Digest V2001 #108 An inquiry for the masses. I am sure most, if not all involved in this digest are familiar with the movie " Message To Love: The Isle Of Wight Festival " because of the traumatic episode involving Joni. If so , is there anyone who was there or more specifically, is there anyone who was part of the group called " Desolation Row". I ask because I was part of that group but didn't know it until I saw the movie. I was 19, cared about the music, had no interest in the "Free Concert Revolution ", waited for hours on the side of the mountain to hear JM, and was unbelievably pissed off when the mike was taken from her. I actually don't remember the name of the guy who took the mike, but he was telling the truth about the free tickets. I got one of the first ones, never used it because the hillside was less crowded and you could hear pretty well, then put it in a book for safe keeping years ago and now can't find it. No big deal. However, aside from the trouble maker, who by the way, ended the revolution as soon as he hooked up with a woman, I met some wonderful people and would like to correspond with any of them. I would especially like to find someone nicknamed " Chickey " She is shown during an interview just standing and smiling by herself with a bandana across her head. It covered what I guess was a large birth mark on her forehead but I don't think that it bothered her. In any case, she was the mother hen to all in the group, organized food and fire at night, and just had a wonderful way about her. I met a few from the group back in the states because they were students at Princeton University and they invited me to party with them. I have lost contact and would now like to renew it. Ifanyone can help, please e-mail me at bmbspirit@cs.com. Thanks for listening to my ramblings. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Mar 2001 01:17:15 -0500 From: "Jim L'Hommedieu" Subject: Re: someone instant message the chat room address please (md) Here's a link to the new JMDL chat room. Especially, compared with the praise > heaped on Jaco's contributions. I agree. I'm ashamed to say that I did not appreciate them at all back when Joni did Miles of Aisles. I thought "who are these guys - she doesn't need a band!" How parochial, but I was young and uninformed. I had flipped over FTR and C&S not even paying attention to the contributions of that band. Joe Sample, Larry Carlton, Max Bennett....in retrospect, I say "hello????" I'm sorry I missed seeing Tom a couple years ago here in Hollywood. Robben Ford played here at the Catalina Bar & Grill last Thursday night and I was intent on going but couldn't make it. I will try to make up for lost opportunities and lack of appreciation in the future! Pound for pound, they outweighed Jaco and Pat, IMHO.
