If 2000 is the last year of the 20th century, then New Years day is the first day of the new millenium as it is the first day of the 21st centruy, which is the first year of the 3rd millenium. I thin kt he confusion rises because of the numbering of BC and AD. is the first complete year after Jesus' birth 0 or 1? If one then the end of the year 1999 marks 2000 years and that would have been the beginning of the millenium. Having said all that, it is all meaningless anyway and doesn't matter. Time is just a product of our brains so that it feels more able to cope! bw colin > > so, on january first we will be celebratin teh new century, not the new > millenium.
